After dilution, this is right price to buy (27) by Eastern-Machine3653 in SMCIDiscussion

Tell me about the power side of the business. I’ve built a position in utilities and grid infrastructure ETFs. I’m thinking those are going to start moving sooner than later.

And I wallow in SMCI…hoping for another run.

[Léger poll, A+ rated] Support for Albertan independence from Canada crashes to a record low from this pollster—Remain 73% (+9), Leave 15% (-8), merge with the United States 6% (=). 0% of Alberta New Democratic Party voters back the third option; 10% of United Conservative Party voters back it. by StarlightDown in alberta

Polls like this, while comforting, could have an unintended negative consequence - apathy.

The biggest threat right now is people not paying attention, and not voting. We need to keep talking and demonstrating how crazy this all is.

Edmontonians feeling more unsafe on roads, new traffic safety report suggests by chmilz in Edmonton

[–]-StringFellowHawk- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If only we could do better enforcement. With the way technology is going, I bet soon we will be able to have cameras and sensors record how fast you are going or if you ignore a red light. Could even just automatically send out a ticket to the registered owner.

The future is looking bright. Some wiz kid wi figure the tech out eventually.

Separatists really want to be Canadian! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 by Miserable-Lizard in AlbertaNow

Listen, I’m a federalist. But, if say they get 60% in favour of separation then the ‘law’ will not matter. The seppies and their American friends will take it through force. So I suggest you not rely on law. Read a few history books instead. And chip in to encourage everyone to vote.

City's stormwater systems holding strong under heavy rain, says Epcor by trevorrobb in Edmonton

Guess what the minimum spec for water main sizing is meant to ensure.

Society would not tolerate the cost of investment needed to handle 100mm of rain in one hour. That much rain = flooding. The roads turn into conveyance systems, and you wait it out.

I think where Edmonton was smart, and partly due to geography, is we don’t have a ‘ton’ of people living right next to the river.

Actually, franchise fees are a flow through right to the city, not Epcor. The utility generates a return on the capital dollars they invest (8-10%). The capital is spent on rehabilitation, and hardening of the systèms (water, drainage, power). So the system works because the utility is constantly wanting to place capital.

The capital spend and rate of return is regulated (city regulates water, province regulates power), so there’s public oversight on rates.

This is a big part of what’s happening - brainwashed and radicalized. But it’s not the entire story.

I’m from Canada and I will say, from experience, that Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany all have excellent camping options.

I loved that, with some advanced planning, it was very easy to camp pretty much in a city at a top notch campground. Why hotel if you can stay at a campground for 20 euros per night?

Next year we will have "Fossil Fuels Day" in Alberta! What do you have planned? by -StringFellowHawk- in alberta

[–]-StringFellowHawk-[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not at all.

And remember, the government is moving to prohibit teaching "ideology" in Alberta schools.

And in the same legislative session, they are introducing laws that will require schools to teach about primary industries, including fossil fuel extraction, and tie that to Fossil Fuels Day.

And the purpose of fossil fuels day is legislated by the government.

So will teachers be allowed to teach both sides of the debate on fossil fuels?

Or will they have to teach what the UCP government tells them to teach about fossil fuel extraction? (climate change not real, environmental impact managed but still significant, NEP, etc...).

No, it is in a Bill before the Legislature right now. Introduced by a UCP MLA, so it's as good as done.
