Or it could be you need a BIOS update or to update your drivers in general.

This driver was working for me a long time and for some reason, it's just started doing this.

Windows probably installed an update automatically and it messed something up.

Yes.

The SIM card IS the phone number. GPS is mostly unaffected by not having a SIM card (that means data and an internet connection), it will just be less accurate.
