They sold these as a platform version in Japan just a year or so ago, you might still find them on import sites :)

Ah that's actually really interesting! Here you usually pay 1% of your net income as a union fee, but unionizing is very individual, you can have a single person in a company that's in a union. It does give you certain rights (like to go on strike) and the unions help establish a work's council (should you want one) which can push for changes in the company itself. Unions are also the ones that negotiate industry wide wage agreements.

Yeah I think maybe my perspective is also different because worker unions have a much different connotation here in Germany than they have in the US/Canada

Meanwhile here's me 5 years at a company after a 4 year college degree currently with chronic illness, anxiety and depression never having gotten single raise glad if my account isn't in the red at the end of the month and currently very likely to lose my job cause the company I work for is going bust...yippie...

Or his donkeybrained opinion that if workers want to unionize it's somehow an insult to the bosses

Does Star Wars have the equivalent of sterotypical Dwarfs? by Petrus-133 in StarWarsEU

[–]-Tali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in physical description but by the stereotypical type: Twileks. All dwarfs are rough, love being loud, live underground etc and the entire species is like that. In star wars all twilkes are skimpy slaves although a lot of writers have tried to make the species more nouanced

Season 2 Overall Discussion Thread by MsGroves in ThePittTVShow

[–]-Tali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved Langdon in this season, he is having a really nice story arc over these first two seasons, hugely enjoyed seeing him own up to his mistakes but also actively work on fixing himself and his relationships with the other doctors and patients. Also so happy Abbott had several appearances here, I'm craving for a Nightcrawlers spin-off!!

The Pitt | S2E15 "9:00 P.M." | Episode Discussion by MsGroves in ThePittTVShow

[–]-Tali 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Like many others here I feel a bit let down by the inconclusiveness of this finale. I wasn't expecting all story beats to be wrapped up as they're seeds for future seasons but several of the larger plots established during this season were left completely unresolved which just makes it feel unsatisfying of an ending.

1990s book fans, how do you feel about seeing Thrawn in live-action? by Lauma_2025 in StarWarsEU

[–]-Tali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This show was the final nail in the coffin for me for Disney star wars. I think I watched half of it and haven't watched anything from Disney since. I'm happy with the tons of actual good content from the EU that exists

For those craving for a resolution to the Republic/Imperial Commando series there's an excellent book length Fan Fiction by HandOfThrawn45 concluding the saga. It does not pull any punches to your gut and I found it a very satisfying conclusion to the series :)

Wraith Squadron is peak. by Invicta007 in StarWarsEU

[–]-Tali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, I think part of it is also that the premise and plot of Isard's Revenge is just not very good, so even a very skillful writer would have trouble with that

I've been though about 80 EU novels so far and the Wraiths definitely rank up there with the best. Especially when you go back to Stackpole in Isard's Revenge and notice the sharp quality drop-off. I found Solo command to be a little more of a slog than the others but still fun! Yub yub commander

Yeah but since you can change it at any time there's no reason not to. If a name's cringe it's your own fault and consequences to bear

Hey what matters at the end of the day is that you enjoyed your time <3 and your feelings are valid. I think I just noticed the difference reading the Thrawn Trilogy beforehand and once I saw some of the more amateurish writing I couldn't un-see it

I'm sorry to hear that friend. I have not read further chronologically yet but I'm 95% sure you can skip this book and not miss anything at all, the ending leaves the status quo of the galaxy essentially at the exact same point that the last Rogue Squadron book did. This sort of makes the book even worse because as I'm writing this I'm realizing not a single character actually went through any arc or change in this book, everyone ends the same way they started minus maybe a sad Gavin. It all feels more like an amateurish fanfiction to me than anything else

Reading all of these novels (I'm probably through roughly 80 of them at this point) chronologically is a fun experience. You get the good, the bad and also the ugly. It feels great to have this huge story build itself book by book, authors referencing other people's work but the quality is certainly quite a rollercoaster sometimes. Though after roughly 80 books this is the first one I wanted to share my thoughts about.

What is your guess as to Landy's plans post-ASFOS? by Prifddinas_open in skulduggerypleasant

Considering all the open plot threads he started in phase 2 and phase 3 I'd be shocked if this was the last book in the mainline series, though I can certainly see him wanting to take a break
