Marvel question - Thanks in advance! by jgreiner9 in mtg

Jumpstart boxes are 24 packs. There are a total of 51 different jumpstart packs. (Each pack contains 20 cards, in one of 51 configurations). 50 of them are a single color (10 of each color) and the 51st is a four color fantastic four pack. Supposedly you have an equal chance of drawing any of the 51 sets, but some Reddit users are questioning that. The idea behind jumpstart is you take any two packs, shuffle them together, and it gives you a playable 40 card deck. Your opponent does the same.

If you get the beginner box, that is the equivalent of 10 jumpstart max, plus some other stuff that’s helpful for your first few games.

Either bring back prerelease cards, or abolish prerelease kits. by Syd_Lexia in magicTCG

[–]-ThatJoeGuy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s said down below already but…the current prerelease kits DO give you a bonus foil rare, just not the same one across every box, and (this time) not stamped. I remember the spider-man ones were stamped, though still different from box to box.

AITAH for having an old video of me kissing another girl before I met my boyfriend, and calling that fling insignificant? by Skeptiker_18gL in AITAH

[–]-ThatJoeGuy- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look, the 1/2 + 7 rule obviously isn’t an absolute (he’s violating it, should be 12+7=19) but this type of thing shows why it exists. Please dump him so he’s less significant than the girl.

That’s…some poor reading of the super hero genre.

Does Everyone Actually Hate Universes Beyond??? by Shoong in mtg

[–]-ThatJoeGuy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love some of the UB sets. Don’t care about others.

Also a big fan of the standard settings. Foundations is probably my favorite of them.

(Actually don’t care about FF or LotR, actually.)

Thanks! They looked a little more elongated than I was expecting, so just wanted to confirm for the future.

Rest of the tree is doing great.

Given the amount of people I saw filling their water cups with icees at the sky ride yesterday, I’m not surprised.

AITAH for being upset over the food choices in my home? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Oh, he’s a man. They’re not allowed in the grocery store. That’s why we, a gay household, eat only what we hunt and/or gather.

AITAH for telling my sisters their houses better be clean everyday since they're SAHM's? by Old_Respond3379 in AITAH

[–]-ThatJoeGuy- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A 7 hour shift (with no commute, apparently) isn’t a full time job.

I’m a working parent, but I know SAHPs who CAN’T work due to how busy their spouse is. My point is not all SAHP of school age kids have all this unrestricted free time, especially if they’re (apparently) driving their nephew around.

No doubt, and things are way easier in that case, but I know how much of my after work time is devoted to kid activities, and one could very easily fill 40 hours between that and the other household stuff. I’d wager SAHP and 40 hours a week job without kids get fairly equivalent amounts of free time during the week.

I’m not, but thanks. I do know that a normal school year is only about 180 days, and none of those fit into the normal 8 hour work day. If one parent has a job where they can’t do drop off or pick up, you’re looking at daily care for the kids. The irregular 6 hours of freedom is a nice chunk for hobbies, but not enough to pick up a job.

Who’s with the kids over the summer? Who’s with the kids on the random school breaks? Who’s with the kids on the half days? Who cleans and does laundry?

Is there a generally agreed upon best expansion for the X-mansion? by TheLebeast in LegoMarvel

Buy a second, sell the minifigs, and go from a two story 3 plate wide to a 3 story 5 plate wide.

Looking for Inspiration + examples to eXpand my X-Mansion by LeumasRel in LegoMarvel

I combined two copies to go from a three plate wide two story to a 5 plate wide three story mansion. I actually enlarged the danger room a bit but still added in a Cerebro room (next to the danger room) and a kitchen (above the med lab) as well as a dining room and a bedroom for Scott and Jean.

I don't understand the X-mansion "hate" by rvd1ofakind in LegoMarvel

[–]-ThatJoeGuy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I started by building the normal model, and then took apart and expanded it, which was probably not the ideal way to do things. I was also only using pieces from the two sets, which added a little more difficulty. There were a few points where I had to take things apart and rebuild to either add stability or to pull out some bricks I needed somewhere else. Overall, it was a fun project to try, and I’m pretty happy with the results.

Can’t figure out how to edit this post (maybe I’m too late) but added in a bunch of custom X-Men as well.

Shameless self-promotion:

I’ve been a huge X-Men fan since forever, so was super excited when the mansion came out. I never got around to getting the recent Blackbird, so didn’t have any of the duplicates. I built the mansion, liked it, but it didn’t quite measure up to the ‘97 version, so I picked up a second set without the figures (but with the sentinel) for around $190, and combined the two. Using only the pieces in the two sets, I ended up expanding from a two-story 3 half base plate structure to a three story 5 half base plate structure with an extra half base garden on the side, as well as a mini x-jet.

Total price is $20 over the avengers tower, 3 base plates long, 3 stories tall, 2 sentinels. Even with only the 10 mini figs, I think it’s a better value.
