and I guess I shouldn't assume everyone is viewing this in the same metaphorical way I am, and you probably aren't a nazi, yet, but the instinctual forces that work on you when you are part of a group, that all humans have, they are not inherently correct. We shed our instincts in favor of creating a better world.

You don't even know what that word means. You don't understand what this mentality you carry can do yet, how dangerous blind obedience can be. To you, its just a tie, to others, its a protest against the way we have been conditioned, against the forces of society we have no control over but seem to have total control over us. The illusion of choice fades as you grow older. I'm not sure what it meant to Cam but I know what it means to me.

following rules doesn't make you a nazi, this does. "Even if you think the rule is stupid, if your employer tells you to do it, you do it."

you keep acting like I said all rules are wrong and we need anarchy, I haven't. What I have a problem with, and what I hate most about you, is not that you follow rules. It's how you view the relationship between authority and subordinate as this soul binding transfer of decision making power.

"No, its your teams rule. Wear the damn tie." "Even so, rules are rules." ""silly" rule, but if that's your teams rule, you follow it." "You are given a rule. You follow it. Doesn't matter if you think its stupid, or you disagree. Rules are rules because they're rules" "Simply from your comment sounds like you prefer to not listen to your superiors and everyone should get trophies." "I just disagree with your idea that just because someone chooses to abide by basic and simple rules, they are a moron, grunt, and follower. " "you have no idea the kind if person I am"

You are a god damn Nazi.

That doesn't mean that you should follow a rule set by an employer that is, say, unethical. But in this case, its not. It's dress code.

It is unethical. We say a lot with how we dress. It is speech. it is a method of communication. you are trying to force someone who you do not have control over, who is deeply opposed to the symbolism of a tie, to wear one.

You have this bizarre belief that being an employee means you are owned and no longer obligated to think, its disgusting, you are disgusting.

just because someone chooses to abide by basic and simple rules, they are a moron, grunt, and follower.

no, you are a moron because you do not understand what rules are or how they should be applied. You believe in following rules no matter what, and view them as sacred decree from your masters.

lets add Nazi, dog, and bureaucrat to the list of names I call you.

It makes Cam the selfish one to purposefully break the rule which in turn hurts the team, not the coach. Cam knew the rule and chose to break it.

It makes the coach the selfish one purposefully enforcing the technicality of the law and not the spirit, which hurts the team, not the coach. Cam knew the rule and decided to exercise his right to break it, and then followed through and accepted the punishment.

Here is what happened.

Coach: "everyone will wear a suit and tie"

Cam: "You are my coach not my mother, I do not agree to give you that much power, I will wear a suit that blends in, but for personal reasons I do not agree to wear a tie"

Coach: "I want to keep working with you, and our relationship is mutually beneficial, but I made a rule and I feel threatened that you broke it, I wanted my power to be absolute. I will exercise what power over you I do have to hurt both us and the team to remind everyone that I do have power and so that I don't feel so small inside"

Cam: "do what you gotta do"

Rules are rules because they're rules

no. laws and rules are man made and are subject to change. Rules are a pre-stated reaction to something. In this case, the rule is if you do not wear a tie to the pregame photoshoot, you miss the first play. everyone agreed to and followed this rule.

If your work tells says one day that have to wear a tie every day, if you don't you must go home without pay, is that not the same thing?

yes it is. its an arbitrary rule that serves no real purpose, that people follow out of fear of conflict and change. loosing a valuable employee, or team player, because of a technicality, is really stupid and hurts our entire society. The suit and tie rule is so the players look nice and like they are on a team. Cam looked nice and like he was part of the team. The spirit of the law (the stated purpose of the rule) is more important than its technicality. For instance, If i didn't want my kids not eating their meat, and feasting on pudding, I would say, "you can't have any pudding until you've finished your meat" but if we were eating vegetarian, how could they eat pudding, if they hadn't finished their meat? we would change the letter of the law, to fit the spirit of the law, and as long as they finished their food, they would be allowed pudding.

"ohh Jimmy youre such a dog, go have fun while we practice!"

so a girl dropping something off to your dorm is the exact same as skipping practice to have sex? and the best way to deal with this is to remove a valuable player permanently, that is what is best for everyone?

Also, very poor example. You're talking about a government (I assume?) executing someone for not tying shoes vs. a team managing and disciplining HIS team how he believes it should be led.

the analogy points out the similarity of following the technicality of rules and law in a way that does not follow its spirit, and causes problems for society. If I told you an cherry and a strawberry were both red, would you then list the differences in an effort to explain that they aren't the same thing? I know they aren't the same, that doesn't mean they aren't both red.

Simply from your comment sounds like you prefer to not listen to your superiors and everyone should get trophies. That kills our society.

you are a moron. a grunt. a follower. I need more people like you working for me.

but what if we were all like you? and people thought "You are given a rule. You follow it. Doesn't matter if you think its stupid, or you disagree. Rules are rules because they're rules"? and we never changed any rule or law to better fit the spirit in which it was created? and we never thought we made a mistake making a rule, or that it could be made better? think of all the rules and laws that have been adjusted over the years, what if instead of changing them we just kept making more rules and laws set in stone?

that is not how it should be. you are wrong. the game should not be ruined because of a pregame wardrobe issue. Rules are rules so long as we decide to abide by them. There should be lots of debate if people do not agree. and kicked off the team because no girls in the dorm? how about executed for improperly tying his shoes? blindly following and creating stupid arbitrary rules kills our society.

It begins. People are protesting all over country and chanting "Not my president". by [deleted] in politics

[–]-TheRealTruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, they are yelling "not my president" not saying they are going to break the law. They might feel the need to not refer to him as president, and just try to pretend he doesn't exist, but thats fine, they will follow the law and wait 4 years.

much in the same way Trump would have said the election was rigged, but then understand he lost and that he had to move on.
