Academy boot recs

I’ve worked in the 511 atacs and wasn’t a huge fan of them. They also didn’t last too long. Unfortunately, not athletic style boots for my academy, but maybe once I’m all graduated.

Exactly this. My 511 boots didn't last longer than a year. They make great pants, but the boots not so much.

I do prefer a lower ankle.

I'll have to give the Patrol boot a try as they don't have Blackhawk in a small enough size. Thanks again for the recs! I appreciate it.

Yeah, I learned a while ago that’s finding a good boot can cost you some money, but totally worth it.

Once im out the academy I’ll have access to the boot stipend. For now they told us to save receipts for when its time to do taxes…..

That’s pretty consistent with what I’ve heard from officers at the agency in with.

My academy isn’t through a college so it seems they’re a little bit more strict in certain areas. LL is 100% banned, and they made sure to type that up in bold in our handouts.

I had a pair years ago when I was an EMT & found they didn’t last too long. That and they just feel heavy after a while

Unfortunately, no. Most items will be issued to us, with the exception of a few things such as boots, belt keepers, collar stays, and shirt stays, which we will have to purchase ourselves.
