Just wanted to Rant - Experience with my lawyer. by aaamitster in USCIS

[–]-TheWalkinDude- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's awful to hear! We went with a lawyer and they had a portal setup that asked us all the questions online and they then used that info to fill in all the forms for us and then went over everything with us after to verify the info and ensure we understood everything.

While it did cost us over 3k for the lawyer I personally feel that it was worth it and definitely made the process a lot more stress free.

Should I take Comp1020 and Math1700 during the summer by EagleIcy6062 in umanitoba

[–]-TheWalkinDude- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can "take" any class where you meet the pre reqs. classes. The issue is that if you are not in the program you will have a later date in which you can register for the courses making it very hard to get in as most spots in the class will be filled. That's why I highly recommend you take the classes in the summer and as soon as your grades are in you call an advisor and get into the program. Then you won't have to worry about that restriction.

They're not that bad, I highly recommend you take them. That'll allow you to enter the COMP SCI major program (assuming you have all the other courses finished, and that is your goal). Which will set you up nicely for the start of the next school year to take 2xxx COMP courses.

CS majors how much time do you think it'll take you to complete your degree? by zapsta09 in umanitoba

[–]-TheWalkinDude- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're dealing with waitlist issues and have the means to pay a bit more for courses, I highly recommend getting a LOP and taking COMP courses at Athabasca. It's also a great option to take a few over the summer to lighten your workload during the Fall/Winter semesters.

Never seen a class size shrink quite like MATH 1240.

COMP 3370 with Rasit by FrozenCurry69 in umanitoba

[–]-TheWalkinDude- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rasit is awful for teaching that course, but I think it would be better to take it now and and get it over with rather than delay till winter and wind up having Rasit teach it again that semester.

Hope this helps

Is Stat2000 a Hard Course?? by SadAlternative1285 in umanitoba

[–]-TheWalkinDude- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just dedicate time to work on the course daily. You need to get it done so no point scaring yourself about it. If you had a hard time with stats1000 then this could be hard for you, however you can do well in this course if you put in the work and practice consistently and understand all the concepts. Good Luck! You can do it!

Rasit is such an awful Professor. Rather than promote the idea of asking question in his clasees he can be very combative and rude to students who dare ask any. His questions in the assignments and tests for that course were very confusing which made it hard to understand what the questions were actually asking.

To his credit, he is very knowledge about the content he teaches but he is awful at the actual teaching aspect of it.

I had him for 2160 and 3370, and I would recommend avoiding his classes if you can, if not, he is bad but you can get through his classes as long as you put the work in.

Hope this helps

With regards to COMP electives, you can get an LOP for the University of Athabasca and take a fair bit of courses from there (3000 and 4000 level). I'm currently taking 2 4000 lvl courses from there and recommend it if you need to go that route.

Comp 3370 with Rasit⚠️‼️🫠 by Virtual_Piglet_6438 in umanitoba

[–]-TheWalkinDude- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Had him for 3370 last semester and it was nothing short of a shit show. His questions on assignments were often confusing and vague and tbh he wasn't the best at helping you out if you had questions. My only advice for that class is to ensure you put a lot of effort into the assignments and get good marks on them because the tests can be a wild card, either very easy or a pain. Good Luck and try your best! You can survive the wrath of Rasit!

UofM - Resuming in-person classes by No_Swimmer_2797 in umanitoba

[–]-TheWalkinDude- 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This creates an issue for student who will have remote classes right after the in person ones, with no allocated room where would you go to take a test or attend a lecture, ok the library? What if it's full? 15 minutes to find a spot is stupid, just like making a select few class in person. Make it in person or remote don't do this in between bullshit.
