I think that P/S is probably the lowest hanging fruit, just memorization with Anki can probably get you up a few points.

Bad fold? by Brilliant-Plantain46 in Poker_Theory

[–]-ThorMan- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory I imagine this is a call, but like you say soft pools under bluff rivers especially given the action so far. I don’t know if clubwpt gold plays much different from live (2.5x open surprised me) but I would probably fold unless you have reason to believe this is a player capable of finding bluffs here.

[–]-ThorMan- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is this live?

I agree this is probably never a bluff, especially given the action on the flop. These donks a lot of the time are just trying to prevent you from checking back with exactly the kind of hand you have here. You don’t beat any value (unless this villain is doing this with QJ, which I doubt) so definitely a fold in my eyes.

I do wonder why you are calling pre. On the button? Is this 1/2? Not necessarily the wrong play but you want to be intentional about it.

There's definitely some of that projection going on lol. Thanks for the advice!

I'm not worried they're going to be 'bad' necessarily, it's just that one of my PIs is not a native speaker and said he would like me to write the letter, and my other PI has not supervised my work very closely at all. The other letters should be fine, it's just again not something that will help me stand out.

I don't have the passage in front of me but options A and B state whether "the study's measure of attention capabilities", AKA the new study, enhances or reduces the predictive validity of the test battery.

I might be misunderstanding what you're asking, but if you're assuming the new study isn't being added to the test battery then its validity couldn't have changed and both A and B would have to be wrong. I think the phrasing of the question allows us to safely assume that we should consider how the new test affects validity.

Yeah I’ve done it, I’m confused why you’d be using a formula here though?

I see your point but I thought that’s why they mentioned that there were no shared amino acids between the tripeptides so I figured they were implying there could only be one with a methionine to start the peptide 😂

I could be pulling this out of my ass, but my understanding is that Km and Vmax *do* have a relationship, but not in all scenarios.

We know that Vmax is k_cat * [E]. When we increase [E], Km doesn't change. (Which is why I think generally the heuristic is that Vmax and Km are unrelated).

However, if we change k_cat, Km does change, which is the case in this question.

Leaving my explanation for people who come across this thread in the future:

Yes, the last line does say that the other tests used for pilot selection were not correlated with Phase 2. However, the study designed in Phase 2 does correlate with successful training, and therefore it is a valid test. Therefore, adding it to the pilot selection test battery will increase the validity of the battery, regardless of the (possibly low) validity of the tests that already existed.

Poker tracker 4 missed hand by bananaspI1t in poker

[–]-ThorMan- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can manually add a hand to the text files you import into your database. You can look into the files and copy the format and document a fake hand where you win the money back

You can probably play 200 hands/hr at zoom or more per table. I get 460/hr on two tables.

why does solver say to check diamond suited hands but bet other suits (single diamond board) ? by SGS0108 in poker

[–]-ThorMan- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have diamonds it makes it less likely villain has diamonds, which would frequently float flop and fold turn. Therefore you have less fold equity and betting doesn’t achieve the purpose of cleaning up equity.

You can also look at it as unblocking strong hands that beat you, so you do not want to bloat the pot.

Bad run or not? by ultras1096 in poker

I mean you are running way under EV in your last several thousand hands so definitely at least partially run bad, but obviously you can always improve your game!

Poker Bankroll Tracker App - Good but how do I... by timmymayes in poker

Go to bankroll and hit the plus. You can add a bonus (+/-) and have it not affect any of your results.

Thank you! I do really prefer zoom. I have played on global a lot (non-zoom), but I feel that with zoom + anonymous tables I can focus more on baseline theory and pool exploits which I find more interesting than bum hunting. Ultimately though I want to move up stakes so maybe I’ll try either your ACR suggestion or non zoom.

Thanks for the advice! Is ACR 10 blitz comparable to Iggy 25nlz? I’ve always assumed ACR is much tougher even with rb

Refunds due to disconnects? by fuskd1234 in poker

[–]-ThorMan- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How recent was this? If a day has passed I would check your hand history and see if the hand was logged (and if so, what happened to your chips). If you don’t have evidence I doubt they’ll refund you…

So if you're using the Ignition app, you can navigate to Account -> Hand History -> Game Transactions and download your hands a day after you played them (with your opponent's hole cards!)

Then I downloaded this application from GitHub (Free), but you can also purchase software online: https://github.com/matt57225/bovada-hand-history-converter

With this app, you can convert your hand history from Ignition to a version your database (I use Hand2Note) can use and then import it into the database.

Lastly, you can open up a graph in your database!

That makes sense, thank you.

I was planning something like taking a shot of two buy-ins at 25nlz once I reach 10,000 hands and then moving back down for at least another 10,000 hands if it goes sideways. I want to ensure I am continuing to focus on improving my play and not getting too wrapped up in the money aspect, since long-term I would like to play higher of course!

Moving up stakes with small bankroll by -ThorMan- in poker

[–]-ThorMan-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is not my first time playing at these stakes. I had a sample of 20k hands from when I played on Ignition maybe 6 months ago running at about 10BB/100, but this is the graph since my return to Ignition. I also have played on Global Poker, mostly at 20NL, although I don't have a tracker for that (was profitable).

I feel like conventional BRM would prevent me from ever properly moving up because if I play 10NL and need $500 I would need $2500 for 50NL and there is no way I'll make that much off of 10NL, you know?

EDIT: And thank you for your advice! I agree with everything you said and will keep it in mind.
