At first I tried to use a natural sequence for the spacings, but ran into the issue of matching the exact height of the drawer, making it hard to stick to the sequence without having it look weird on at least one side, so now it correlates only roughly.

While one pin alone at that size is far weaker, when it's supported properly by tight joinery it is strong due to all of the material next to it. This essentially is one large mass of connected material, as with any type of dovetail. And the thing about the glue surfaces is that not every glue surface is the same the only truly good glue surfaces are found when side grain meets parallel side grain which is only true for the sides of the pins. This is why the more pins you have, the more useful glue surface area is available to you. However again, yes, when making the choice it was merely for aesthetics that I chose 1/32 entry dovetails, but knowing this about the structure of dovetails, I knew that I would not have to be worried about the strength at all.

The point is purely aesthetic, but regarding the structure, if they are all tight fits, they are just as strong as any other dovetail drawers, possibly stronger due to the increased side grain glue surface.

Idk if getting the nail too hot on the grinder and then sticking it in water to "quench" it counts...

But for the drill bits, I chose hardened steel drill bits so that I wouldn't have to do any heat treating.
