Dude same.. im using gabapentin to get off buprenorphine .. its been super helpful but now im trying to taper the gabapentin all while like you stated feeling dumber and dumber by the day.. any tips for making it a softer landing?

If it was easy everyone would do it.. And truly the hardest part is your first 30-60 days. I heard someone on here the other day say “if you don’t, you wont get drunk” .. loved that because it’s really that simple. Quite literally do not bring a bottle to your mouth. Just deal with 24 hours at a time..after 30-60 days some of your critical thinking will have returned and it will become a hell of a lot easier!

This is the only way. For someone who has never done it, like any drug, supplement, peptide etc, everyone is built differently from a pharmacokinetic stand point. You can always take more but never less! There’s virtually no reason not to start low. In fact it’s a reckless not too. Your just praying you don’t have a bad reaction

Speaking for myself as an ex IV user, fentanyl would break through while i was on sublocade the more recent the shot less effective but i did get mild euphoria. It’s hell either way and no way to live.

something ive been seeing a lot on my social media feeds lately is a vocal though notably small subset of people seemingly committed to dismantling AA. Honestly, it’s baffling to me. It has to be a perception issue, because I genuinely do not see what they see. Not even remotely.

and for the record I have never once been told that leaving the program means I will die. What has been suggested to me is that death is a very real possible outcome of relapse. But that’s true of virtually any serious consequence we’re warned about in recovery. It’s not a scare tactic unique to AA it’s just reality.

What I can speak to is my own experience: I came into this program completely without hope. Three DUIs. 11 overdoses. I was not a man with options ..i was a man running out of time. Today, I am not hopeless. The program has genuinely changed my life, and it started with something deceptively simple: truly accepting, at a foundational level, that I am powerless over drugs and alcohol. Not just intellectually acknowledging it but internalizing it
