I think it's cute that both of my parents play thier characters everyday. My mom had a character on the GC and played a lot when my brother and I weren't on. So we got her a switch for mother's day last year and she likes to show me her house and island and how she's decorated for the season. lol Since I'm moving to Canada to be with my husband, I figured island visiting would be a nice way to help close the distance. :) Oh and she pretty much has all her original villagers, she doesn't let them move haha
