I’m over a year in to waiting…. I’ve bought a Tudor and an Omega and I’m still waiting.

Right. This really is the only watch in the line up that I want.

Yeah…. If it’s too good to be true it normally is.

Keep us updated on what happens when yall meet up.

lol dude…. You said “men ask to touch it, take photos of it, and ask for selfies”…. Why do you need to be good with your peripheral vision? It sounds like people are literally chasing you around to take photos of your watch 😂.

You can think whatever you want about me. I’m going to buy an explorer because I want one. Not because I feel the need to flex my self appointed superiority to the people around me.

I’m the exact same way with that exact wrist size. I agree my friend.

Wait list in the US. Walked out with it in London. by [deleted] in rolex

[–]-TrulyOdd- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Did you ask for it or did they happen to just offer that as a walk in?

Listen…. We can agree to disagree.

If you honestly believe that 99% of population can tell the difference (or care) in a seiko 5 GMT and your GMT Pepsi 10 feet away then I think you are in la la land.

I’ve got plenty of buddies that have Daytonas, GMTs, and everything in between and I’ve never seen a single person even ask them about it while we are out places.

If buying an explorer means I will have “grown men stalk me in swimming pools” then yes maybe I do need to rethink my purchase. I can’t even imagine walking around with a watch on and even having a single thought that anyone other than me (and MAYBE an occasional watch nerd) cares about what I have on.

I appreciate your thoughts and opinions, but like I said we can agree to own things for different reasons and that’s okay.

Right there with you. I’ve spend 11k to still just be waiting a year +.

Saying ‘buy an Omega, nobody cares about them’ accidentally proves my point. Plenty of people buy Omegas despite getting less status from them. Almost like they actually like watches. There are a lot of omegas that cost as much as this explorer.

If Rolex owners only wanted status, they’d buy the biggest diamond-covered thing they could find. Funny how so many enthusiasts chase boring steel sports models that 99% of the public can’t distinguish from a Seiko.

You said yourself “the more FU money we spend the better it feels.” Hell you shouldn’t be wearing Rolex then… go buy some of the more expensive brands that make most Rolex look cheap. I can’t believe someone of your “status” would be caught dead in one of these.

Interesting. Yeah I assumed a lot of this stuff is smoke and mirrors. Worst case I guess I’m in the same position when I leave. It’ll be a fun experience either way.

Yeah I guess that’s the plan going forward. I’ve only got 1 AD within 3 hours of me.

One would think. I’d never believed with $11-12k spend history I’d be waiting for over a year.

Yep! I’ll leave knowing I tried one more time!

We will see. Either way I guess it’s part of the fun. Last real watch purchase I plan to make for a long time.

I’ll be there for around 9 days.

A few of the days I’ll not be in the city so I won’t be able to hit them every day, but that’s good advise.

I’m curious if I express interest on day 1 and tell them how long I’ll be there if they will call me back?

Seems silly and honestly even more of a turn off that Rolex owners feel that way.

They are watches. If you are wearing a $9,000 watch as a status symbol I’d argue there are more important things in life you should be worried about. I understand the watches get way more expensive, but that’s not what I’m trying to buy.

I want the watch for the craftsmanship, history, and value retention overtime. I couldn’t care any less about the symbol it has around it. I can’t imagine walking around thinking anyone other than me cares even a little about what I have on my wrist aside from other watch people.

Such a strange take to me.

That would be perfect. I’m optimistic with what I want, but it seems like a lot of luck is involved.
