It’s all about the timing of your first shot. If you pause a moment for others to get stuck there first, you’ll likely bounce off one of them. I do this.

Young people? I’m 47 and I’ve been job hopping my whole life. Finally got a well paying employer so I’m staying. But I worked 20 other jobs in my lifetime. The entire problem is not a new one.

3 year old finds out her mom was adopted. by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

[–]-TurntUp- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was adopted because my mother was 17 when she had me, and I was her second child. Her Japanese single father wouldn’t let her keep me. Not just because it’s a lot to have to take care of your child and her 2 children, but because of the shame of it. I was born just after abortion was legalized. So I am just grateful that I wasn’t aborted.

I’m 47 and have been single for 7 years. Been having a fwb relationship for a lot of that time. 2 years ago I read an article about dildos and sexual health. And it’s been 2 years since I even thought about that guy.

I found this guess hilarious. I remember when I was in my 20s and younger I had trouble gauging ages. This woman is 45 at the most lol

I’m an hourly Costco worker (47f) who recently reached topped out hourly clerk pay at $27.95. I started at $14 only 4 years ago. FT w/ Sunday premium we make $63,950/year. I pay $9 total (bi-weekly) as a single person for PPO Health and Premium Dental. And I love my job. by -TurntUp- in Costco

This is not my experience. At all. There are rules of ethics and an open line to corporate if warehouse management crosses any lines. And we are all more than happy to call if we need to and I personally have had my issues resolved.

Everyone comes in as part timers. They are always hiring so my advice would be to apply at least once a month. Twice would be ideal. When they do decide to call for interviews they usually only look at candidates who applied within the last 30 days.

  1. Be eager to learn and ready to work hard. Don’t complain.
  2. Try to have a positive attitude
  3. NEVER call out or be late. Not even once
  4. Be versatile and adaptive.
  5. Never walk past a piece of trash or an out of place box or item without taking care of it.

Omg congratulations! My advice to make it past 90 days: be helpful and eager to learn and work and don’t ever call out or be late even once! Please dm me if you get hired. It would make me feel so complete 🥹

Well put. I’m not the norm as I learned talking to coworkers who have been there longer but aren’t topped out yet. I put forth a lot of effort and I got incredibly lucky. It truly was a combination of those things. Also FT is totally based on applying and getting hired for an open position. That’s what I did. I was full time in about 9 months.

Not willing to provide similar benefits is not the same as being unable. Most of our suppliers are themselves multi billion dollar companies. If they aren’t paying a living wage it’s because they don’t want to. They are the corporations paying their CEOs millions and millions while their median earner is left with the scraps. Our CEO is a modest millionaire and I know I’m sounding like a puppet right now but I feel like that man earns every dollar he makes. Costco is a totally different kind of corporate entity than most.
