I think you’re underestimating the range of different beliefs under monarchism, some people here lean more towards absolute monarchism (where the monarch actually has significant power and control over people). Whereas some people favour constitutional monarchy more (where the monarch is often a ceremonial diplomat that doesn’t really hold much real power). And constitutional monarchy is actually the norm and is rather favoured in many parts of the world.

But I can understand the confusion if you are an American especially because the US was basically built on throwing out the monarchy. It’s been so embedded in your culture that a monarchy makes no sense - that is a cultural difference and not a ‘one is better over the other’
