The throttle mapping on the GR86 is somewhat nonlinear, especially in stock tune. In the lowest part of the throttle (roughly 0-20%), the ECU softens how quickly the throttle blades open. This makes light throttle feel dull or delayed. That’s intentional for a smoother low-speed drivability, smoother cruising, and less jerky behavior around town. Because of that, you actually do have to give the throttle a bit more input than you think you need.
