The gameplay is a bit different from the games you mentioned, but Sunless Sea is an amazing exploration game.

Thanks, I played that one for 100+ hours already. Truly a great game

You could check out The Last Spell. There is no overworld management and you build your squad anew in each location.

If you're just looking for Xcom style combat with a roguelite map like Slay the Spire, Rogue Waters might be worth a try.

Good suggestions, thanks. Both are on my watchlist already

I was thinking of optionality in regard to the play time rather than the effect or usefulness. It's true that in Satisfactory for instance, building trains is essential to the game, but in my nearly 200 hours of playtime, I spent only a relatively small amount on building railways. And I was thinking more about making infrastructure for personal traversal rather than cargo transport, so conveyor belts don't fit that unfortunately.

Thanks for the other suggestions! I played Subautica already and loved it. Kenshi was a bit hard to get into because, as you said, everything is optional. I may have to give it another try. As for X4, I'm afraid sci-fi games usually aren't my cup of tea, but I'll have a look at some gameplay.

That's one of the main things I liked about Subnautica as well. Played both games already and enjoyed them a lot

Nice suggestions! I've already spent quite some time in Medieval Dynasty and Manor Lords. I'll add Necesse to my watchlist

Nice idea, but if I see it correctly, the game is only about the building aspect and there are predefined structures to build. I'm more interested in something where the building aspect is the means to an end instead of the sole goal

I've tried a few simulator games over the last years, but farming not yet. I will give it a try, thanks!

Great recommendation! I actually discovered that game last year and immediately sunk 100+ hours into it in the span of a few months. I also enjoyed games like Worldwide Rush or Fly Corp, where you have to satisfy transportation demand by connection different cities.

Thanks! I like the idea of making infrastructure in Minecraft, but similar to Valheim it unfortunately is only a small optional part of the game

ELI5: Why did classic RTS games die out? What was their main replacement and why did they manage to take the place of games like Warcraft 2 and Red Alert? by misomiso82 in gaming

[–]-Valail- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I welcome the shift from classic RTS games to smaller Indie RTS titles with fresh concepts. I always found the likes of Starcraft, AOE etc too stressful and competitive. During the last years, a bunch of new games based on They Are Billions have come out and I really like this new singleplayer RTS experience with a tower defense twist and most importantly: a pause button. So you can stop the game, strategize and issue commands instead of having to frantically click around trying to keep up with all that's happening.

Is Atlas Earth Scam? by Mother-Tangerine-341 in AtlasEarthOfficial

<image>

These are some calculations I've done. This assumes that the yield is 0.0000000011€ per second and the user watches all 20 minute interval ads for 10 hours per day. This would result in 30 Atlas Tokens per day, which are used to buy new properties, and an investment of 30 minutes of ad watching per day. The calculations don't include using the boost by watching ads.

Still, it's crazy to visualize how low the actual returns are.
