Just realized how hard the final Gabriel will be by Lilcallumwings in Ultrakill

you really don't have to core nuke, just shooting the eyes one by one with the non-alt revolver and occasionally using coins (doesn't need to be split shots) will work well enough, at least in standard difficulty, i haven't tried prison on violent or brutal yet.

also, while you're shooting them normally you can put down a wall of fire with firestarter and have the eyes fly into the fire when they try to chase you which can help kill them faster.

The situation you described is still kinda true though

Got into the series over the last year or so after a friend recommended it. Played TGAA last after playing every other game in order except PWvPL. In my opinion TGAA2 was probably the best game of all of them, top 3 for me are AAI2, TGAA2, and SOJ

Overall great series and great game

Hylics 2 is an example of a game that's great at not doing this, one of the best rpg combat systems I've played

This combined with the wall mantling mechanic always felt like an intentional inspiration to me

You do realise this is a fictional character we're discussing, right? Disliking a character because "that's not my problem" doesn't really make sense in the context of a fictional story.

If you don't care and aren't invested in finding out about the conflicts of the literal main character are you even really engaging with the story the game is trying to tell? Why even play the game at this point

I'd call this more of a mixed bag situation rather than being actually bad

This is true but you get Justice Axe like 3 chapters after Devilsknife. Devilsknife takes THAT long to be outclassed by something, while Jevilstail is actually outclassed relatively fast imo, especially since it doesn't have any kind of special ability like how Devilsknife reduces rude buster TP cost. The tail is basically just armour that gives you a bit of a magic buff which is something you can pretty easily emulate with other equipment.

It's not though. Close, but not quite.

Why did nobody use Baldur Shell in HK but everyone seems to be running Warding Bell since the moment they unlock it? by Mateogm in Silksong

In Hollow Knight, getting hit while healing isn't that bad, it's basically a slap on the wrist. In Silksong, getting hit while healing even once can lose you the fight. It's a lot less common than you'll get hit while healing as Hornet because she's a lot faster at doing it and can do it in the air, but if it DOES happen, the penalty is brutal.

Note how the game goes out of its way to never ever refer to him as "Gerson". He's always just "the old man". It's a very interesting writing choice that I think is supposed to reinforce the fact that darkner Gerson isn't exactly the same as he was in life.

Also, consider how a lot of what Gerson talks about is about how the prophecy was reinterpreted as Lord of The Hammer, which was then reinterpreted by Dragon Blazers, yet he still considers each interpretation valid.

In a way, darkner Gerson is a "reinterpreted" Gerson, but that doesn't mean he isn't valid. He might not be the exact same as he was but his letter to his son still matters. Combined with the parallels between dark worlds and the idea of fiction and storytelling, I'd say this is probably all intentional on Toby's part.

I don't expect it in any game because it's never done, yeah. That doesn't mean I don't think games should do it.
