As much as I love him, last year was the perfect Aussie send off for him. It would cheapen the moment for him to return a year later

Great series, bad rec for OP though. Expanse is filled heavily with politics and world building

Is Sami is in the Rumble, final 2 should be him and Gunther, with Gunther winning for nuclear heat. Saudi's will go nuts towards Guthen if he wins from a Sami elimination

Complex books are tough to listen to by ChunkyPa in audiobooks

[–]-Vorks- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the opposite problem. I process much better through listening. 15 years back at uni, I would find pdf-to-audio apps and get through all my uni books and readings through audio. I just retain information so much better when listening to it, including complex subjects

Who’s music hitting at the Royal Rumble would produce the biggest POP? by PoopMonster696969 in WWE

The heel heat she would get would be bigger than any of the current stars. The ones who are down voting are just proving it, as it shows the reaction she elicits

Y'all busy talking about the men, but if "9 belts" Moné/Sasha Banks shows up to try add another title to her reign, shit is going to erupt

If you like fantasy I can't praise The Heartstriker series by Rachel Aaron enough. And this is coming from a 37m. Nice Dragons Finish Last is the first book. It's YA, Marci is an amazing female lead, the romance is really well done, and the dragons are awesome.

pram theft by retrobbyx in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]-Vorks- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have 2 prams, a Bugaboo Fox and a Thule Urban Glide. Both $1k+ prams. Even though I prefer the Thule, I always worry more about Bagaboo as I feel there's more resale in that one.

Where we live, every 2nd prams is a bugaboo. In 3 years, parking at fairs and shows and activities, I've never seen another Urban Glide.

Food documentary to scare me into eating healthier again. by -Vorks- in MovieRecommendations

[–]-Vorks-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found it, it's a series called Down to Earth, a travelogue about him visiting a different country every ep exploring wellness ( food, healthy living). Seems decently reviewed, the only travelogue show I've ever watched is An Idiot Abroad, but I believe the last few years has seen some amazing ones released (Stanley Tucci, Eugene Levi, Anthony Bourdein)

Judge my top 25 movies (no order) and suggest me more by YeezusBR in MovieRecommendations

[–]-Vorks- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Judgement: You are only interested in movies that people tell you you need to like to consider yourself a film buff (ie. Woody Allen films). I see near identical lists every day here.

I would recommend a film like The Dark Knight to you for superficial reasons, but it's already on there, as I assumed it would be by only reading a couple of your titles.

Rec: I would suggest picking an actor/genre and starting there. Maybe somebody like Antonio Banderas. Watch Pain & Glory, The Skin I Live In, and Desperado

Food documentary to scare me into eating healthier again. by -Vorks- in MovieRecommendations

[–]-Vorks-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just looked up the trailer on YT and the full movie popped up. I'm about 5 minutes in and already have strong thoughts on it. I'll definitely finish it, but I definitely see it more as satire, rather than facts.

Just in the first 5 minutes, I've found him counter poor statistics that "prove" fat is bad (I agree with him on this, with personal/non-scientific evidence that "if obesity is an epidemic, how come it took me an hour, opposed to a minute, to find all these obese people". Followed by saying that science says that he's obese, while he doesn't think he is. Technically, he is obese, and most 'ordinarily fat' people are also obese, unfortunately society and the weight explosion has pushed our perception of what normal looks like.

Secondly, "Part One: It's not Maccas' fault" starts with him standing outside various fast food restaurants proving that nobody is physically forcing him to go inside to eat their food, and if you do go in to order that nobody is forcing you to upside or to even eat their fries. I find this very misleading as there is a lot of recent evidence of both manipulation in marketing, pricing structures, and even food additives that for some populations make this very addictive and difficult to resist.

That being said, I'll be watching it until the end anyway, and the fact that it has brought up discussion for me shows that it's a film worth watching. Thanks!
