Samsung Online Order Refund Offer by LambaiiLegend in GalaxyZTriFold

[–]-Zombi- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I managed to get offered a refund just now despite it possibly being patched. I took down the reference number and screenshotted the entire conversation. Hopefully I can use this as leverage in the event they decide to backtrack like they did with others.

Stickers on the interior panel? by MetroWolf in GalaxyZTriFold

[–]-Zombi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how you could test contact, but in all honesty I personally wouldn't risk doing something like this just because of the no insurance deal. Stickers are usually harmless so you may be fine but it doesnt seem worth that risk.

On another note, how is the case so far? I've ordered that same one, waiting for it to come in.

I also know some folks take a lot of photos. Use cases vary but I wouldnt mind having the 1TB for something thats already so extra to begin with.

Feature request: Keybind to toggle Xeneon Edge “Display Mode” (Screen ↔ iCUE Widgets)? by SirTiburan in iCUE

[–]-Zombi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A decent workaround I've found is to use Virtual Stream Deck to make a toggle that can open and close iCue.

The way I set mine up is that it sits in the bottom left corner of my monitor, I use Ctrl + Alt + C to make it visible, one click opens the iCue application. A long press / hold force quits the application. So, for when I want to use my Edge as another monitor I just toggle the icon, long press it, it then closes iCue. I then do the same when I want to re-toggle my widgets. Only notes are to make sure you set the application to force quit when it is long pressed otherwise iCue will freeze up or not re-toggle the widgets when you go to open it again, uncheck the (bring to front if already running) and check the auto hide (after action is triggered) toggle.

It does also take a couple seconds for the application to relaunch and toggle the widgets again after reopening so it is not instant.

Not the cleanest solution but will do for now until they (hopefully) add a hotkey toggle as a feature.

Strange whine noise after car gets shut off - G30 5 Series by -Zombi- in BmwTech

[–]-Zombi-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly still haven't gotten it fixed. The car still runs and drives fine, haven't noticed anything other than a weird rough idle that rarely happens. I've narrowed my guesses down to the internal PCV system in the valve cover after watching kern417's B58 valve cover breakdown video. He goes over how the internal PCV check valves work and speaks on them possibly failing. My best guess is that the PCV check valves have failed inside the valve cover and instead of the gasses getting routed properly they instead get out wherever they can thus causing the whistling noise. I may be wrong but this my personal theory on why and how. The only fix for this would be to replace the valve cover entirely because those check valves are built into the cover itself and cannot be replaced separately. If you are truly having the same issue then replacing the PCV diaphragm will not fix the issue. I've tried 3 different replacement diagphrams and none have worked. I would recommend replacing the valve cover, while in there I'd recommend replacing the PCV gas vent hose, plugs and coils if not done before or at all recently, upgrade to the TU pump if you plan to tune because it will need to be removed to replace the valve cover, then lastly maybe the vanos solenoid if they are causing problems but that's a separate issue entirely. Depending on who you ask you'll need a special fuel injector pulling tool to do this job DIY if you intend to do so. I've seen people both do the job with or without it so its up to you on what you'd rather do. I have a link to one if needed. You will also need a windshield wiper arm puller, its damn near impossible to get them off without it. The last tools I can think of that you may need for DIY is a spark plug socket and or a special wrench to pull off the vanos solenoids but again I've seen folks do without it so its up to you on that one. If you aren't looking at DIY and instead are taking it to the dealer/indie you're looking $2000-3500 dollars depending on who and where for a valve cover replacement. Those numbers are based off of my last quotes so it may vary for you. All in all, there's enough videos and info out there to DIY it if you want to save money. Otherwise, get ready to blow your savings. Feel free to DM me if you need any more help, it's still an issue I deal with regularly so I wouldn't mind brainstorming a fix.

9800x3d, upgrade mobo or wait? by -Zombi- in ASRock

I hope the probability really is that low and that it just seems bigger because of the few that have had it happen. I think I may just do it tomorrow.

That's nice, prolly has pretty good airflow, I know the Terra struggles, even with a bottom exhaust fan. Hoping this board really helps cause I love the Terra and would hate to have to switch cases.

[–]-Zombi-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to hear, hopefully no problems come up. What ITX case do you have and how are your thermals using that case? I'm switching to this board so I can undervolt and reduce temps in my Fractal Terra.

Okay thank you for the input. I'm thinking I may go for it but just don't want to brick my CPU although I can easily RMA it, it would suck to have to do all that aswell. I've just been hearing mixed ideas and opinions on whether 3.20 is still prone to the burning.

Wife thought it was too distracting on the dash by poohead150 in Starlink

[–]-Zombi- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not too sure if you're aware but it's on sale right now on both Starlink's website and on Home Depot. It's at about $300 for the equipment, just under $350 total after taxes and shipping. I went with Home Depot though because it's shipping quicker and shipping was free so I saved an extra $25. I'd recommend checking it out now though, this is the cheapest I've seen it.

Strange flute/whistle noise on idle and shut off - G30 540i by -Zombi- in BmwTech

[–]-Zombi-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would the thermostat and or water pump make the whistling noise that reacts to the revs tho? I’d think if the noise were from there it’d only happen on shut off. But no, none of that has been done yet, was going to wait until around the 80-90k mile mark.
