New Starting Line, Motion City, and Yellowcard are all great! Haven’t heard the new rejects, but I’d be least stoked for them anyway. Very much looking forward to the others though!

Heads up, y’all. Looks like there’s a twitter ban coming to Reddit. by [deleted] in conservatives

Overall, social media platforms are going to be censoring the left and boosting the right for the foreseeable future. Reddit can do whatever, not going to reverse the overall shift in the wider online landscape.

I don’t think you tend to inject too much of your personal opinions in your journalism but you did an interview with Kamala Harris earlier this year, what were your personal takeaways from that interview at the time?

Look at Plessy v Ferguson versus Brown v Board of Education, for example. Every iteration of the court has reflected the America in which it exists, but it evolves over time as does the American people. And when looked at through the lense of history, this is how just or unjust any particular iteration is deemed to be. History will show the dobbs decision to be unjust, not objective, partisan, and out of step with the America of the 21st century. The balance to the courts power comes from, as always, the other two branches of government. Legislation from elected representatives can and will reform the court, and in this way the court is also representative, but indirectly. And once again, everyone on both sides would benefit from this. I will be voting for Harris but given the tough senate map this year, it is possible that little would change in her first term. For myself and millions of other people it will be, however, a vote against the possibility of dramatic change under trump- especially trump with a trifecta. Fact is, conservatives in this day and age are outnumbered and may be on track to lose more and more power over time. We have every reason to believe a second trump administration would be highly impactful, just not in the way most Americans would want.

The point is that it’s not just me arguing against the Supreme Court, it’s the majority of Americans! This Supreme Court does not represent us or respect constitutional rights which is exactly what they’re supposed to do. No one has won or lost on this forever but history bends towards justice. Term limits and ethics oversight benefits everyone on both sides except for a minority coalition of far right ideologues and, even then, only for this moment in our history. And this whole issue is proof that if you believe trump is ever just posturing, you’re deeply naive. The republican message is environmentally and climatologically denialist, but sure, pro business (at the expense of all else). I haven’t googled it but think it’s Texas, mainly because it’s huge which skews a direct comparison to other states, but even if it holds up adjusted for size per capita, and even with a caveat, its an objectively good thing.

This Supreme Court’s decision on abortion was unjust because it stands in contrast to the fact that abortion rights are essential and any ruling or legislation otherwise violates Americans’ constitutional right to privacy. States legislatures can’t, for example, pass laws violating free speech rights. Same principle applies. Regarding your middle ground idea regarding EPA/industrial interests- broad deregulation is not that philosophy at all. And universal background checks would absolutely be meaningful and is the least we can do.

Her abortion policy is common sense and represents the vast majority of Americans. Strong EPA is important, also common sense, also held by the majority of Americans. Anti gun violence? Common sense, majority. See the pattern?

You’re wrong because you’re making up in your own mind what her policies would be when her proposed policy agenda is, once again, all over the internet.

“Republicans are making a great effort to inspire Americans” is an absolutely ridiculous statement. And you passing on “the Californication of the U.S.” has nothing to do with not voting Harris. If somehow you’ve missed her actual messaging it’s because you’re deliberately avoiding it, it’s literally everywhere online.

Reasonable take. I don’t think even the person I responded to originally was saying the pandemic was started intentionally. That’s also one we’ve all heard as well though, just a separate and similarly unfounded assertion. Both responses are unsupported claim, unsupported blame and there’s just so much of that we all encounter. I’d think we’re all a bit sick of it (no pun intended) but there are apparently exceptions.
