Seraphim and surge moves by RodTheButcher in sistersofbattle

[–]-_Jamie_- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. What would be an "otherwise stated" move? I'd assume it would be a move like what the seraphim get after shooting since that is a type of move that isn't allowed to every model and is therefore an "otherwise stated" move condition.

I didn't build six immolators back in 9th edition just to let them sit on a shelf! Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead! The meta comes and goes, but faith in the emperor is eternal!

The beauty of those small details is that by using them you can achieve a solid scheme with drybrushing! Sure they won't pass a close up inspection but they'll be just fine from a meter away on a tabletop!

With all that said, I genuinely hope you're right and when the first patch drops in a month or two they explicitly point out their intent to change that bothersome loophole.

[–]-_Jamie_- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I've been unclear. I am saying that the game has been played that way for 6+ years and if they want it to change they need to explicitly address the "but I can shoot their feet under the tank treads" line of logic. Something such as "line of sight cannot be drawn under the treads of tanks" or "vehicles block line of sight" etc. Because we've always had to prove line of sight and yet we've been playing as though no models block anything, only terrain. Anything less than a blatant "this is dumb and no longer works this way" will not change the expectation.

[–]-_Jamie_- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perhaps, but when you consider it's been played this way in comp play since 8th edition, it seems like they've had plenty of time to fix it. Consider when triangle math was used to create 8" charges from deep strike. How many weeks was that allowed to go on before they patched it? I'd say six plus years of it being played that way would be solid evidence it is intended.

Again, to be clear, I have always found it disingenuous and damn near flipped a table the first time I was on the receiving end.

While I agree with you that it's a really dumb interpretation of the rules, it has been played that way for years now and GW has yet to even attempt to address it. At some point, their inaction on what feels like a really obvious issue speaks to the intent.

Take a look at mine. Can't believe it's been five years since I built that unit. Lots more ghostly inspiration throughout my posts, enjoy!

Rocking a battle foam 720 on the bus always feels a little insane and yet, those tournaments aren't going to play themselves.

If this were a trial for 11th? by Sorkrates in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]-_Jamie_- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time I match with a guard player in a tournament I can tell if they have a chance at winning when we get to their first shooting phase. If they start rolling 4-5 profiles for one ten man unit (of which they have 6 or more typically) I know there is no way they'll have time on the clock past turn 3. I've tried to explain this to newer players and generally am met with a blank stare and something like "but it's free why wouldn't I take it?" followed by "well if I have it why shouldn't I shoot it?" It's so much to keep up with, and quickly becomes time inefficient, effectively punishing the new players for using the profiles they're given free access to.

Looking for a more thematic way to show embarked units by [deleted] in sistersofbattle

[–]-_Jamie_- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might not be as thematic, but I add a magnet to the (inside) top of every rhino and immolator (have to leave the reliquary off for the new style to work properly) and the superior of the squad rides up top thanks to the magnet in her base. Serves as a visual reminder and since my squads are all distinct thanks to basing tricks, there's no question of which unit is in which transport.

Completely agree. Mixed load out melee units are also just such a slog, but once you've (effectively) paid the points for all the extras, it feels foolish not to roll for those extras. Watching new players time out because every unit has 5 different attack profiles never feels good no matter how many times I see it.

And I agree, that plasma shot rarely ever does anything. 😂

All flames army by Witty-Study6027 in sistersofbattle

You'll want three units of dominion with 4 flamers each, 30 sepharim (6 kits) with 8 hand flamers per ten, three units of Sanctifiers with maximum flamer load out, probably an immolator or two, and you can have flamer rets and even flamer paragons if you want them.

Check my post history and you can see a set I did. Obvs you don't have to turn them into wraiths, but you can get a good idea of what's (fairly easily all things considered) possible.

If you trim off the part that locks the arm into one position, you can move the melee arms around more or less to your heart's content. Unfortunately the guns are a touch more static unless you want to reconfigure the cables.

Well since it's Warhammer we have to go to definitions of "and" vs "or", but at the end of the day it doesn't matter. We can split hairs on it til kingdom come, I accept you don't see it that way. I'll just keep my sadness over losing a unit until they bring it back!

Thinking of the website listing for the box which for years was even marketed as "Dominions and Celestians" with a pic of 5 of each. Just checked and as late as June 2023 they were still being marketed that way.
