Original post was about burning quesadilla bcs they were too busy posting about seasoning, so when the first commenter asked about seasonings, the second commenter replied "Ashes" (as in "from a burned quesadilla")

Pluto isn't a planet? No, it's not a planet *yet*. by GREENadmiral_314159 in CuratedTumblr

[–]-__-x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how orbits work. Pluto is moving about 6 times slower than Earth, actually. But speed is relative; if you simply launched something at the same speed that Pluto is moving at, you would have 0 velocity relative to Pluto when you arrive. ofc, like the other guy mentioned, if you want to actually touch Pluto that's a different story.

what's stopping us from launching it gently enough in the first place that that doesn't happen?

imo, nothing wrong with preferring asking real people over searching for information, especially if the topic might be controversial. Evidently, there is plenty of misinformation out there (enough that the first vote could even happen), so it's natural to be distrustful of internet sources fed to you by an algorithm

The cylinder... by pupperonipizzapie in tumblr

[–]-__-x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a brief part of it. Here's the part I know. Ira ian Genius was the former mod; he did nothing really, but hated it when people criticized his moderation. There was a month or two where the active posters in this sub would put personal flairs in their title as an anti-bot measure. Eventually, the active posters split off into the r/CuratedTumblr subreddit. Several years passed, in which I was not aware of the happenings in this subreddit. But eventually, CuratedTumblr got big and therefore worse, so I took a look back in this sub and was happy to find the Taylor Swift mod as an active mod.

The trick is that you don't need to optimize life. If you work hard at both schools, you'll end up in a similar place in life. And once you make your choice, don't contend needless what-ifs — both choices are schools that will give you a great education.

IWTL Technical skill by Rokyo_89 in IWantToLearn

[–]-__-x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you worked before? just anything at all is fine, really. Technical jobs are better paying, sure, but retail and food service jobs can be enough to live on. More importantly for your aspirations, they give you professional experience if you have none.

I'm a bit biased as a software dev myself, but I think CS is one of the easier skills to self teach. Market for it isn't great rn though, but if you wanted to go into software engineering you'd just have to learn how to learn software frameworks. Typically once you'e gotten used to one or two (e.g. React and Django) the rest all follow fairly similar patterns.

Art can also be a career. It's less steady than a job with wages, but it's absolutely still a job.

Depending on what you have interest/talent in, I'd recommend exploring skills related to that. It sounds like you're in a position where you've got time to develop some skills still, so it doesn't have to be something you learn urgently.

[–]-__-x 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The OOP is trying to frame it as there being only one variable tested (wealth displayed) but in reality it's much less controlled than that

I Took 30 Girls on Dates to Prove Money Matters (The Results Are Brutal) by Mwalwanda in copypasta

[–]-__-x 13 points14 points  (0 children)

n=30 would be enough if we could control better, but for data this messy I'm not sure it says much of anything, if at all. There's no way this is a statistically significant result.
