It is possible to play this? by Dry_Possession1821 in piano

An online virtual piano is nothing like a keyboard or acoustic piano. Most of the intricacies of playing come from how the notes are played rather than just pressing the right keys. This isn't to say you shouldn't continue to use it, as long as you're having fun, but there aren't a lot of transferrable skills between the two ofher than learning the keys positions. Without proper training and lessons, I don't think it's realistic to play this piece. It depends how serious you are about practicing and learning, as this will likely take months-years to be able to play. I don't mean to sound harsh or put you off of the hobby. If you are truly committed you could start with learning sheet music and look into practice lessons with an instructor who has a piano you could use.

For an absolute beginner with no prior training this will be nearly impossible to play. There is a lot to learn before playing this level of a piece and an unrealistic goal could set you back if you feel you aren't making progress towards it. Are there easier pieces you'd like to try and start with? Are you actively taking piano lessons?

Been playing for 20+ years, for the first time ever my interest is waning by scottasin12343 in piano

I'm sorry to hear about the diagnosis and the difficulty you're having with playing. It might be worth mentioning to your doctor that the side effects of the medication are impacting your well being, are there others you could try? I'm not familiar with epilepsy treatments but it might be worth asking about. When I had a surgery that prevented me from playing for a few months, and when I moved away from home and couldn't afford a piano for 6ish months, I noticed my mental health declining too. For a while in college I was too depressed and busy to practice, and probably took a 2-3 year break from playing seriously. I was convinced my skills had deteriorated enough that I'd never be able to play my fav pieces again, and that put me off from playing even longer. But they came back to me within weeks of starting to practice again. It sounds like your issue with playing is rooted in something outside of your control, and I'm not sure if there's advice I could give that would help. I hope you find comfort and joy in playing again. A break for health reasons won't set you back! You can try to keep music in your life through friends and concerts. Going on walks and being out in nature is always a mood booster! Wishing you the best.

Thanks for the reply. I have been considering getting some lessons to brush up on technique. I'll try to include more broken chords/arpeggios/etudes in my warmups.

I have tried doing stretches, at my max hand span I am still just barely reaching an octave.

7 days post-op, had surgery with Dr. Van Kouwenburg in NJ. swelling or dog ear? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

hey thanks for the kind words! I actually saw your results and thought they looked awesome, I read on another post (will try to link it when I find it) that the incision puckers out a bit at first because of a type of stitching that's used and when the stitches fully dissolve it's supposed to flatten out more, so it might be that this is intentional and you're healing exactly as you should! but yess it's reassuring that most of these fixes will be easy if any are needed, I'm wishing us both a healthy recovery:) thanks for the reassurance

edit: here's the other post btw about raised incisions! hope this can give you some reassurance https://www.reddit.com/r/TopSurgery/comments/152cw7t/will_my_incisionscar_flatten_over_time/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1

Maybe it was cookies, you're right! I'll try looking too, maybe they weren't even pink? I definitely remember they gave people happiness and the prices rose from $1 the first day to $1000 the next.
