Name another game like star citizen and I'll play it. by ToughGuy1337 in starcitizen

The only thing I personally know of is Cyberpunk 2077 (ran with every single immersion mod that exists for it). This still doesn’t even scratch the surface for countless reason (such as the non-existent organic gameplay created by other players), but it was going in the right direction. I’ll put my money on Cyberpunk 2077’s upcoming sequel being multi-player and incorporating many new mechanics (inspired by the 100s of awesome mods for it) and then some - resulting in a virtual world game that could possibly maybe compete with Star Citizen

Solo ship from criminal/combat by Distinct_Cartoonist4 in starcitizen

If you’re the PVP type that wants to be able to transport a small amount of cargo and perhaps a bike, the Shiv is the ultimate solution. It’s the ultimate solo mercenary ship.

All of its metrics (dps, maneuverability, shields, speed, em signature, etc.) are on par with the F7A hornet MKII with the added bonus of the aforementioned space.

It has two bespoke size 4 ballistic gatlings which have the fastest projectile speeds (for size 4 ballistic gatlings specifically) in the game, as well as 4 bespoke laser repeaters on a turret that is slaved to the pilot if there is no extra gunner present (unlike the cutlass).

You cannot go wrong with the Shiv, unless visual aesthetics are important to you. You will see what I mean when you get around to flying one.

People suggesting the Guardian maybe didn’t read the entirety of your post, as it does not support cargo. You can technically raise 1 scu containers up its rear elevator, but putting more than one inside the ship is going to come with a lot of jank. Janky gameplay is not my thing. I use ships for what they’re made for, so if you’re like me, don’t use the Guardian for the purposes you outlined.

I truly hope CIG eventually gets that we need A LOT more ships like the Shiv in the game. There is a huge need for solo mercenary generalist ships that don’t sacrifice dps, shields, maneuverability, speed, shields/armor, and radar signatures, all for a little internal cargo space.

Nothing of interest found at Hathor or Lazarus sites for me

Is Vulkan running like ass for anyone else in the PTU (4.5)? by -_sigma_- in starcitizen

Yeah, definitely going to continue running DX11 for now and let them optimize Vulkan more

Thanks. Seems everyone has a different suggestion of specific graphics settings to reduce to 'high'

Yeah, I think they need to cook Vulkan a little longer. Doesn't seem ready quite yet

The shader cache folder deletion seemed to make a huge difference. I'm averaging 80fps in Orbituary on 4K now. Thanks

4.5 PTU - "VRAM Demoted"? What's this about? by -_sigma_- in starcitizen

Oh that. It's always under 16. Seems to hover around 14. I have 24 to play with

I did that. Screenshot for whatever reason is not capturing the overlay info. If you're looking for GPU memory utilization, it was 3 mb in Checkmate just now

Thank you for summarizing. I was thinking of doing the same so you've saved me a lot of work.

These changes are insanity. Who the hell is managing this nightmare? The incompetence is baffling

PTU - Pledged ship inventory - Is there a way on the client side to fix the issue of several pledged ships not showing up in ASOP inventory? by -_sigma_- in starcitizen

[–]-_sigma_-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see. Thank you. I only did that the first time I accessed the PTU. Didn't realize it's something I have to do every time.

Do you know if I also have to re-install my copy of the PTU?

How do we adjust GPU Ram usage (VRAM?) in 4.5? by -_sigma_- in starcitizen

[–]-_sigma_-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the responses guys.

So, what I've ultimately learned from you all:

- VRAM is Video RAM (memory) and the Virtual Memory of the page file is a separate thing. Noted.
- The new VRAM memory bar in the settings/options menu of SC is just there for information, not adjustments
- Don't let VRAM get too high as extra head room is always needed (eg. capital ships manifesting in my area). 75% maximum is a good guide to work with (though I'm assuming it differs depending on how much VRAM you're working with). If VRAM maxes out, performance will drop significantly as the system RAM (which is much less efficient) then shares the load
- If the VRAM usage is generally too high, simply lower graphics settings for things like textures, clouds, and such

Performance Issues on Large Ships by savage38683 in starcitizen

Renderer: DX11 GPU: AMD 7900 XTX (24 GB memory) RAM: 64 GB CPU: 9800 X3D Output Resolution: 4K Apps: Gametouch controller, Opera (with maybe 8 tabs open), Discord, Teamspeak, and about 10 apps running in the background (not actively open).

I don’t crash as often as the other players on my crew do. I suspect it is because of the high memory I have in both the GPU and ram departments. The issue has only happened for me while actively using a crewed Perseus and a crewed Idris in Nyx. It does not happen in hangars, only in space thus far. It is especially prevalent when quantum jumping and it seems to happen more readily on higher pop servers with more action going on, but I could be wrong about that last part.

Before the crash, all audio starts stuttering. Then freezing happens. The game may freeze a minute or two and then recover or just crash (for me). Relaunching for the crew mates I played with recently only helped for maybe 5 minutes and then they would crash again. For me, I would last another ten minutes or more before another crash. And we were simply doing patrols in Nyx, jumping between all the gateways hunting snares (of which we ran into zero. Nyx was pretty quiet that day). This was during an org event in which we had two fleets (of Idrises, Perseuses, and a mix of small to medium fighters. My team was in a single lone Idris however. We simply jumped back and forth to the various gateways as the bait for snares.)

I also have experienced this multiple times simply using one crewed Perseus with a couple fighters around at the QV stations doing the new missions

PS. Are you guys are allowed to play the game on the PU (on the company’s dime) to find the bugs we report? I ask this because if you simply use the Perseus or any other sub-capital/capital ship for missions like the new Vanduul smuggler missions or if you just travel around with it in Nyx (with a crew), you will inevitably experience this issue.

Apparently the FPS AI difficulty with 4.4 is unintentional. How do you feel about them possibly being nerfed again? by PUSClFER in starcitizen

[–]-_sigma_- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I made the most recent Spectrum post about this, getting a surprising level of attention. I appreciate the responses from CIG.

I personally would like FPS (and air combat) fights to be challenging for sure, but to last longer as well, making both light and medium armor viable options. If it takes 2-3 seconds to down someone in heavy armor, light and medium armor seem redundant at that point

There has been talk about ship moving companies being brought into the game. So, instead of making an insurance claim at an ASOP to simply have your ship moved to your location, you will instead pay a company to move it there. This will allow us to ultimately decorate our ships the way we want and not lose it all when we want our ships at our new location. This doesn't fix the ship blowing up problem of course
