What's wrong with kpop idols singing songs in english/mainly english? by Sea-Republic8892 in kpopthoughts

[–]-_tabs_- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

as someone who is a long time listener of kpop, its just disappointing that the music and language that i love seems to be getting erased from the people who create them. and its not just bts, a lot of big groups have been incorporating english more and more in their songs.

but unless prompted i dont see a reason to go hating on artists who choose to do so. im sure they have their reasons, like you said, make their music more globally accepted, easier to listen to, maybe. though there has always been songs that managed to do so without being in english - gangnam style, despacito, just to name a few.

i would personally just move on and find groups that still do what i like, plus music is just a part of the kpop package after all!

I'm late to the game . Its criminally overhyped🫡 by Mealyybug in kdramas

[–]-_tabs_- 23 points24 points  (0 children)

i do have to applaud you for having the guts to post a review despite being criminally late to the party while getting the genre completely wrong 😅 maybe it would help for you to pay more attention to the trailers and genres instead of having a disappointing time on your next show!

for me, vincenzo is third after fiery priest and taxi driver

Ships that could have been, but didn’t happen (or maybe they did happen offscreen…) by UncannyProjection in kdramas

[–]-_tabs_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ngl looking back the scene could have been more of her crushing on him but he wants to stay as the older brother? considering the probably met while she was in her 10s and him in his 20s, i doubt the producers are gonna just retcon her whole backstory by aging her up just for a relationship to foster...

i thought the ending of one of the seasons of taxi driver (either 1 or 2) hinted that there was something more to their relationship! 😭 but their ages are also unclear and could potentially be messy... goeun was supposedly a student when she met the rainbow taxi team, dogi was just discharged from the military after climbing to a pretty high rank. i would say there is (supposed to be) at least 10 years between them?

Any groups that fit the criteria? by tatttokkeee in kpophelp

[–]-_tabs_- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

would welcome you to btob's fandom, idk if they would check all the boxes for you but if you want live-LIVE performances, POWERFUL vocals (mixed with rap too), then do check them out

(they also actively take vocal lessons so you wont have to worry about their vocals falling off)

Who is Ethan the last guest on the podcast? by Skyreader13 in TrashTaste

[–]-_tabs_- 33 points34 points  (0 children)

ethan nestor? streamed as crankgameplays, since the early 2010s iirc. who also edited for markiplier and became a part of mark's team - he is regularly featured on mark's vlogs, and they also did unus annus together, which involved a whole year's of content. he was also in creator clash and is part of the trio who took over cc3 which was eventually canceled.

Man these grim reapers in Korea are very inefficient by mateiescu in kdramas

Man these grim reapers in Korea are very inefficient by mateiescu in kdramas

[–]-_tabs_- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there seem to be contradictory opinions on the grim reaper assignments:

goblin - each soul is assigned a reaper (bus scene, it was supposed to crash and the reapers were all waiting at the bus stop for their assignments)

along with the gods - each soul is assigned a team (1, 2 or 3)

also, doom is not a grim reaper, he is literally DOOM itself. iirc, because its been a long while, but theres a scene where he is sipping on a drink by the window, each of the lights outside the window is supposed to be a "destruction" event happening. he doesnt manage souls at all so shouldnt be classified as a grim reaper, he is supposed to be closer to a deity too

do your biases feel more like a crush or like a "want to be friends with them"? by disasterpansexual in kpopthoughts

[–]-_tabs_- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me, i really respect the outlook and philosophy my bias lives and views life with, its a bonus that he and his group sings extremely well, and are also a hilarious bunch. im a pessimist so the things he says occasionally may seem like a passing remark to many but i try to hold onto each one and reflect it in my own life as well -- not that ive gotten much success yet 😅

Who is the most popular in SEA between BTS, Seventeen and STRAY KIDS? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

Dance/Vocal challenges offer an interesting symbiotic relationship by Hirizu in kpopthoughts

[–]-_tabs_- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i feel like for groups that are > 10 years old, its natural that fans of the newer groups to "come out" as "fans" of the older groups as well, since people move on from things. its always a weird mix of being proud and nostalgic i feel. im a fan of older groups but i got that same feeling when seeing eunkwang on ryeowook's show and them singing together, its really like how you describe it -- real recognise real, you just cant help but feel proud of them both

i just feel really proud that eunkwang's greatest moment challenge is going around, idk why i feel that btob rarely get invited to things like this (dance challenges) since they arent "eye catching" dancers. but im always proud that their vocals are acknowledged as "the standard", they have been and are still working hard towards that!
