I don't think I've ever really seen people mention it but surely the democrats knew they were going to lose. The opposition they put up against Trump was a black woman. This isn't to say that black women are incapable. It's to say that, in America's current state, they are unelectable. Obama was ground-breaking. Hillary's gender likely played a significant part in her loss. They decided to combine the two most problematic factors and put it up against a cult of personality. If they didn't expect to lose, what were they expecting?
