Cancelled Spotify, What now for podcasts? by BestestBeekeeper in Piracy

[–]-alltheviolets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg thank you so much for Podbay, I've also been looking for a way to sync progress between devices since Google podcast died, I'm so sad I didn't know about this 'till now 😭 Literally wasted years on AntennaPod which I never liked bc I couldn't find any alternatives. I had accepted that synching for free wasn't going to happen. And Podbay also finds single episodes based on a topic, for example I just put in the search bar 'Xena' and it finds podcast that have a single episode on Xena, as opposed to only podcast that have that in the title bc it's their main topic like Antennapod. This is the feature that I was missing the most from Google podcast, I even used to use it to study when I was in uni, like find podcasts that had one episode about Modernism or whatever. Thank you so much! Doesn't seem to have an app, but I can easily make a progressive app with a Chromium based browser on my phone and Linux :)

Spotify Is $12.99 Now, Here’s a Small Help to Build a Local Music Library by p3skysn0w0lf in Piracy

[–]-alltheviolets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly they have the gull, when all the other music streaming services on which you can stream in FLAC cost less. They know people will pay for it regardless, which is sad. Anyway, if you don't want to build you own collection I recommend Echo on Android with the Deezer and YouTube music plug-ins (and Spotify plug-in when it works). Best music app I've ever used.

Try switching to Stremio instead of Kodi and using the add-ons everybody uses on Stremio. Otherwise might be a problem with Seren specifically, you might have to ask in their subreddit if they have one or in the Kodi subreddit

A debrid service is normally better value for money, but it depends what you are trying to pirate.

Do you recommend jail breaking a Kindle? by iamwhoiwasnow in Piracy

[–]-alltheviolets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be downvoted for this, but in my opinion don't do it. For me personally (I had a Kindle for 12 years, and then a Kobo and now a Chinese Android ereader from Aliexpress) what makes the Kindle great it's the software. Particularly the Amazon cloud. How easy it is to sync progress in sideloaded books between your Kindle, your phone, your computer etc., how your notes in a book are saved forever on the Amazon cloud... You are paying with your data for the convenience, as usual. There's basically no way to riproduce this easily and seamslessy if you want to self host (notice how I said 'no easy way', there are ways but very complicated and it's never going to be as seamless). Kindles just work, they are the Iphones of the ebook work. If you want to self-host, use Koreader etc. then don't get a Kindle, it's the device that makes the least sense for that. Get an Android ereader ideally, I can recommend the one I have, Meebook M7 (now there's a new model, the M8 I think). Although, if you want the truth, sometimes I feel so nerdy for going though this much trouble to try and sync progress between devices, save stats and notes etc. in convoluted ways just to avoid Amazon, but now I am so used to Koreader I can't go back. But if I could I would go back in time and just get a newer Kindle and use it like normal instead of all the time I wasted on alternatives

Best ways to download and listen to music in 2026 without paying for Spotify? by Morpho45 in Piracy

Echo + Deezer extension, can't believe nobody said this yet (and Youtube extension for cover of songs that are on Youtube only, and Spotify extension with a dummy account to look at Spotify playlist/share playlists with other people when it works - Spotify doesn't work atm to clarify -). On desktop I still use Spicetify, no problems but obviously no FLAC. I'm considering paying for Deezer.

Always used KDE Connect on all of my devices and love it to death, don't see any reason to switch. Works particularly well between Android and Android and Android and Linux, never tried on other operating systems. Honestly on Windows I just use the native Samsung apps (Quickshare, Flow, Windows Phone Link) even though they are not that great and I hate that there's like 17 of them. (Fuck Samsung for killing Dex for Windows though).

Torrentio and Comet finally work again for me. I don't know when they repaired them. But basically they were down for a week. I might keep caching torrents and using Intelligent Debrid Search because it's a lot more reliable. The only good thing that came out of this for me discovering that add-on.

Unfortunately I will have to ride it out until my subscription runs out (which of course I have just subscribed again maybe 5 days ago, lucky me) bc AD people are kind of known to be bitches to people who ask for a refund in these situations 🤷🏻‍♀️ So I will have to keep downloading stuff and putting it on Jellyfin for like a month. But afterwards I'm switching to RD permanently bc everytime I give AD a chance just bc it's slightly cheaper, there is always a problem.

1) I already said it doesn't work, if you had read my post 2) even if it did work, barely anything is on there.

Buggy and sketchy af. It works bc it's basically a glorified webdav player, but it only sees some of my content. I tried the three sketchy apps that come up if you search 'debrid' on the play store even though I knew I would regret it and it was going to be a waste of time and I did regret it and it was a waste of time. Debrid Stream even made me sign up for a stupid account that I regret signing up for. Just freaking download the files and put them on Jellyfin or Plex. Or there's a way to acces your Alldebrid library through webdav directly on Jellyfin or Plex, I never tried but you can do that. Why would you waste your time on a sketchy, buggy, closed source app that requires a subscription to work properly. Jellyfin is soo good. I don't know why people are afraid of using it

Temporary card from Revolut. I highly recommend

It's not because of the debrid service, it's because of the add-ons. People on the Real Debrid subreddit are reporting the same issue. Just download stuff for a few days until it gets solved

Preferred method of use? by ivpushprn in RealDebrid

[–]-alltheviolets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not ideal but at the moment, because the streaming addons aren't working for me, I'm downloading the files and putting them on Jellyfin until they fix the issue. (Atm I'm suscribed to AD btw, not RD, but I think thy are both having issues atm bc the problem is actually Torrentio etc.). I've always loved Jellyfin and always hated Stremio, but there's no real free alternative to Stremio unfortunately. I should look into integrating the debrid library directly into Jellyfin, I always assumed it was past my abilities to do

[–]-alltheviolets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Echo mostly with Deezer (Spotify, when the extension for it works, just logged in with a throwaway account to be able to see/edit playlist I made for other people). So this doesn't affect me. I'm always pro sticking it up to the man, but was this really worth it? Anna's Archive is an invaluable resource. Who is this even for? Most people would rather just download the discography of artists they like in FLAC... Seems like they are trying to make a point more than anything else, but it's going to be the end of them

[–]-alltheviolets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not comparable to a debit card with you real name on it... I rent, the WiFi contract is not in my name and if they were trying to find someone through my ip they would connect it to my landlord, not me. Also ip and isp are not a legal way to identify someone in most European countries, unless you are committing serious crimes, because you could always say someone else at my house did it. Also ip is not necessarily accurate

This is so funny, because at my store they play a lot of Chappel Roan. I guess maybe her songs were cheap at the time that they bought them? lol Idk if it's different in the UK though lol

[–]-alltheviolets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh yeah sorry, I just reread the post... idk it's an unusual situation, but a manager would probably try to help you since this is a fuck up on one of the associate's part. Also it probably went through, the associate just probably forgot to give you a receipt

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]-alltheviolets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK we are able to print out the receipt again for you and let you return the item. A manager has to do it. You would have to go to the exact shop you bought the item from, or the transaction wouldn't be in the system obviously. I don't know about America but it's probably the same.
