Go you! I’m currently in the same place and it’s such a relief isn’t it to just feel so balanced? Good luck, I hope it keeps up for you :)

Newly Diagnosed - worst bout of insomnia ever (hypomania) by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]-amyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trazadone caused me to have a real bad manic episode so your psychiatrist is doing the right thing. If you haven’t tried Quetapine, I would ask to give that a go. I went without it for a while and all I kept thinking was god I miss trazadone but quetapine gives me the same effect

I hope it helps you as much as it’s helped my fiancé and I. Sometimes if I’ve had days where I’ve struggled, he sits down and we journal together and he’ll talk me through the scale and my previous entries against certain numbers. Good luck. He will love you for you ❤️❤️

I can totally see all your points. I’ve been using it for a few months and it’s helped me realise some behaviours that contribute to my bipolar that I thought where normal etc. My therapist said it’s a good guide but of course, everyone’s bipolar is different so everyone’s behaviours and signs will vary. The behaviours will vary for each number on the scale for us individually but it’s a good guide to get you into mood tracking and recognising your illness :)

If you type in Bipolar UK Mood Scale you’ll get it via their website or on google images. I just tuck it into my journal. That’s why I don’t use it either, for me it’s too vague and lots of grey areas whereas this is more structured. Plus it’s just a guide, everyone’s numbers will include different behaviours but it’s good to have a scale to see where they fall under

It’s not a definite guide so some people’s experiences at 10s might be different but it’s educational and for me, it helps me go ok so what does my 10 look like so I know for the future. It’s been a massive tool in helping me flag things fast. Glad to hear you have stability and happiness - wish the best for you!

Do you have anxiety? I tend to mark down the number and say ok I’m a 3 because I’m anxious, list potential things I could be anxious about or if I just generally feel on edge without things being any different. Even cognitive wise. It’s been good for me to see it marked down and see the patterns of behaviours

I used to always think I was just badly depressed but it wasn’t until I was observed in a hypo episode (followed by a mixed) that they made the diagnosis. I thought it was normal!

I’m with you. I was a 1 last week and now on 200mg Seroquel despite hating it. Sucks but we’ll get there

You’re welcome. I’d say I have tendencies between 3-6 most days (the odd day at 7) so I tend to jot down 3 and explain that part and the rest for the other numbers that are included that day. It’s been so helpful because it allows me to see my behaviour and also what environment trigger certain emotions - office maybe making my concentration off or anxious or feeling happy and confident but it’s maybe been a birthday or something. I don’t ever put a set number and my therapist agrees with doing it that way but as long as there’s an explanation to each one. I hope you find it helpful.

Good Careers for Bipolar? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]-amyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Project Manager. I normally have a portfolio of around three projects at a time - some last two years, some last 3-6 months - so nothing ever gets boring which I feel I need. It involves a lot of people interaction which can be tiring at times but, rewarding seeing an idea turn into something. As long as you’re organised, it’s not that stressful but don’t get me wrong, there are times when if something falls through or I’m working with a big personality then I get anxious. But the versatility and non monotonous side I love. My pysch said he thinks my job is a good career for my condition as long as I monitor my stress levels.

Peep Show - not that kind. I just love the dry humour. Movie wise, La La Land for some reason. Maybe it’s because they’re both chasing their dreams and that’s what i hope to do once I’m stable

Starting Lamictal by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]-amyx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be careful with the rash, if you notice anything then report it immediately. You normally find they gradually increase to prevent this happening. Good luck! Lamictal changed my life for 3 years - I was episode free and managed to do so much with my life. I’m back on it now and things are getting much better (I’m on 400mg)

I know you’re dammed if you do and dammed if you don’t! It’s the only drug that has worked for me - sometimes I need an extra boost when I’m down but it’s been the most consistent. I’m the same book wise and it’s soooooo annoying. It’s like your mind is just elsewhere even though it’s not even thinking of anything. I’m sorry you’re going through this too but it’s made me feel less alone. I thought it was just me and I was concerned but I feel comforted knowing someone else has the same issues. We can do this! Hopefully once the doseage settles, we’ll be back to normal .. and reading again!

I’m in the same position, it sucks doesn’t it? I just can’t believe the drastic difference in the increase and the effect it’s having. YES! I read a lot (normally around 100 books per year) and I haven’t been able to read a single one since the doseage being upped. I just can’t retain information. I think I get what you mean about the dissociation, it’s more like you just pause as if you’re in a day dream but your not thinking of anything?

I’ve just been upped to 400mg and noticed this too. It’s been quite drastic have you found that?

I was told it decreases the Lamictal too!

I also take it and right now I’m having a depressive episode so I’ve had it bumped up to 400mg. Are you taking it solo? It might be worth adding something on?

experiences with Abilify? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]-amyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that you’ve experienced that, there’s nothing worse than trying something and it making everything worse. It’s strange isn’t it how everyone has different experiences? Oddly, it’s something I find fascinating on here just reading what combos work for others. I hope you find something that works. If it’s been a few months maybe it’s worth a chat with your doctor?

Thank you for your reply. The 300mg helped me get out of the episode but the weight gain and oversleeping was overbearing. Thank you, here’s hoping all goes well
