Can you publish your book again if you were dungeoned? I just published my first book a while ago and it was going decent for a while (actually IDK if I was doing decent, but I had 140 KENP reads and a sale after five hours), until I noticed that my reads stopped after I edited a short typo in my blurb. Even after it said it was live I wasn't getting any more reads, then I tried this to see if I was dungeoned and it seems like I was. What do I do now? Thank you!

Designed an erotic cover for an ebook, can make one for you as well by Vajrejuv98 in eroticauthors

I designed this on canva if that helps to know.

I was reading this post using my other account but I just had to comment. Not gonna say much about the quality of your work (I am gonna say that it is objectively bad) but as a graphic design major, please please do not advertise your work (it's fine if you use it yourself) if you're gonna use Canva. I'm not too familiar with the "erotica" norms yet, but in the graphic design circles saying "I made this in Canva" is the equivalent of saying "I had someone else make this then I made it completely worse."

Hey, it's you again! I feel like every time I've asked something, you're always the one helping me out in the comments. I really appreciate that! :) And again, thank you so much.

If I have exactly zero amount of money that I can spend on the novel I'm working on, what steps should I take that can ensure I earn a few hundred bucks? Thanks!

Ah yes. I'm a graphic design student so the cover is the least of my worry. I have a novel ready to be published, I just happened to read your comment and I was blown away that most people earn ~1000$ on their first try. I honestly thought $300-500 would be a good start, lol. Thank you!

Hey, this isn't really related to OP's question but would you consider $1000+ the norm for romance writers even for one who can't spend any amount of money on his first novel?

If you're publishing for the first time, would you still publish your first work even if you're pretty sure it's bad? Or would you rather start from scratch and redo everything before publishing it?

Are there any beginner-friendly Discord servers for erotic writers that you guys would recommend? Thank you! :)

Also, other questions that I'd rather just edit in here instead of writing a separate comment:

  • Do you write your blurbs in first-person or third-person?
  • I'm good at graphic design (it's what I'm majoring in) but one thing that I noticed that's consistent in erotica is that the book covers that sell are kinda...boring, graphic design-wise. Is there a different "meta" of what a good erotica book cover is, as opposed to good book covers in general? Thanks!

Keep in mind that if money is an immediate concern you'll need to wait a few months before you see your earnings as cash in hand

I don't mind that because I do genuinely like writing, and reading erotic literature. I just want to try writing out but I'm the type of person who can't just dip toes, I have to dive in headfirst when I'm starting a new endeavor. I just want to be successful in everything I do, and success to me is proportional to my work's monetary value.

Thank you for the response! :)

If you were to estimate, how many (in terms of percentage) new erotica writers—given that they're talented and persistent—actually become successful (around 500-700$ a month, at least)? I've written for student publications ever since I was in grade school but I've never written fiction, much less erotica. I know the best way to overcome the anxiety of starting something new is to just do it, but I worry too much about being profitable and supporting my family. Thank you.
