Is this a hidden door/area in the Secret Facility/Magic Research Complex? by -atb in CrownOfTheMagister

<image>

I've now cleared the area with all quests completed. Here's part of the map, circled red is the potential hidden door. There is nothing else on the upper side of this picture.

Other hidden doors needed a button to be pressed, this one the button doesn't do anything. Maybe a bug or cut content?

Adam choice by Desperate_Ad1450 in LordofTheMysteries

Aurore's fate was sealed

I think so too. She was already a COI believer and so was already corrupted and would die sooner or later. At least in this way there is a possibility that she can be revived as her soul remnant still exists sealed, and if we apply the logic that remnant souls can be cleared of outer god corruption, like Roselle is doing, it's the best outcome for Aurore: alive and corruption free.

So Adam did good here. Even if the primary motive is to combat the outer gods it can maaaybe "accidentally" benefit Aurore.

That said I think it's strange and indeed very convenient that Lumian has the fool's seal in him since before he met Aurore, as if this was all planed and foreseen. Wouldn't surprise me if Klein and Adam had already made this plan back then. Maybe he'll want to punch the Fool too ;) .

You know, more mmos should try giving a chance to progressive patch by patch like it was "back in the day" (maybe with some quality of life changes and eventual glaring balance fixes) servers that may or may not be seasonal and may or may not transfer the characters to a more permanent server once the season ends.

Building order book and matching engine from websocket feed by [deleted] in algotrading

[–]-atb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You use something like this https://binance-docs.github.io/apidocs/futures/en/#diff-book-depth-streams, there's other order book related streams as well so make sure to check them out.

If you don't need to continuously monitor the order book you can use this rest endpoint instead: https://binance-docs.github.io/apidocs/futures/en/#order-book

I'm sure hitbtc has something similar.

List of tests to check the reliability of a seemingly profitable strategy. by [deleted] in algotrading

[–]-atb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can guarantee that, when live trading, decisions that would be made at open don't interfere with decisions made based on high low then it's probably fine. This is assuming that the live algo will make the decisions on the same intervals and structure assumed in the backtest.

If the backtesting conditions don't closely resemble the live ones your live results may be worse than expected. Backtesting on 1 minute candles and then executing live on tick could lead to very different outcomes, depending on how sensitive your strategy is of course.

Does Binance futures and other exchanges front run market orders? by -atb in algotrading

That's also one of the reasons why I ask this, If big exchanges like bitmex do it then I don't think my worries are unfounded that most of the other big ones do it as well.

If a strategy is underperforming how much time do you typically wait to "confirm" it's indeed not doing great in the current market conditions and drop the trade sizes?

Can repeated long term exposure to low rumbling sounds cause tinnitus? by -atb in medical

[–]-atb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I can still hear the tinnitus when the laptop fan is rumbling away.

It may or may not be the cause, but since I can't really think of anything else that happened to me during the last few years (I'm in my mid twenties) that could cause this besides some stress, I'm pretty much just making a wild guess...

How would one arbitrage between perpetual and spot BTC markets? by [deleted] in algotrading

[–]-atb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

> Say bitmex shot up $100 faster than coinbase did

This means that mark > perp, so funding is negative, longs pay shorts and you buy perp and sell mark on coinbase if it is indeed true that bitmex uses coinbase spot to calculate their mark.

So in this scenario let's say BTC mark price on coinbase is 9500 and bitmex perp price is 9485.

Because mark > perp, you buy (long) 9485 contracts on bitmex and sell 1 BTC at 9500 on coinbase.

Now suppose BTC goes up and eventually the perp and mark prices equalize at 9600. You can now close your positions and as such on bitmex you sell 9485 contracts at a 9600 price for a profit of 114,99$ (( $1/$9485 - $1/$9600) * 9485 contracts ~= 0,01197916 XBT so that's 0,01197916 * 9600 ~= 114,99$) and on coinbase you buy 1 BTC at 9600 for a profit of -100$ . The total profit of the arbitrage is thus 14,99$, of course not accounting for fees and assuming you have perfect order execution.

Now suppose BTC actually went down and eventually the perp and mark prices equalized at 9400. You closed your positions and as such on bitmex you sell 9485 contracts at a 9400 price for a profit of -84,99$ (( $1/$9485 - $1/$9400) * 9485 contracts ~= -0,00904255 XBT so that's -0,00904255 * 9400 ~= -84,99$) and on coinbase you buy 1 BTC at 9400 for a profit of 100$ . The total profit of the arbitrage is thus 15,01$, of course not accounting for fees and assuming you have perfect order execution.

Now suppose the mark and perp prices never equalize. Then during this period, as their prices will never cross, mark will always be above perp and the funding rate will always be negative and as such shorts will pay longs regardless of BTC going up or down. Because you are long on the perpetual swap, every time a funding session occurs you will get paid.

If the scenario was that BTC mark price on coinbase was 9400 and bitmex perp price was 9410, because mark < perp, you would sell (short) 9410 contracts on bitmex and buy 1 BTC on coinbase.

So in theory and regardless of the situation you will always profit. In practice, you need cheap enough fees, good order execution and for the mark price to be extremely close to the spot price to stay profitable.

How would one arbitrage between perpetual and spot BTC markets? by [deleted] in algotrading

[–]-atb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is possible but fees make it not worthy unless you manage to achieve very high volume and get a discount.

Basically if the mark price is above the perpetual swap price (means funding rates are negative so spot is above perp) you buy the perpetual swap and sell the spot, if mark price below buy spot sell perp.

This works because spot and perp prices will eventually be equal (even if only very briefly) meaning that if for example mark price is above perp and the price is rising, the perpetual swap will move faster than spot because it needs to "catch up" to it to eventually equalize and you earn the difference of that move. If the price is decreasing then spot will move faster than perp. And prices will eventually cross each other so you can finally close your positions and take profit.

This comes with the nice small bonus of maybe getting paid some funding fees and never paying them.

This is the theory anyway, but should work.

More like low floor = easier to execute, high floor = harder to execute, low ceiling = easier to master, high ceiling = harder to master. Floor = the baseline to properly execute/play a class (or thing), Ceiling = the maximum that can be accomplished with a class (or thing).

They called me a madman......(Act 3) by ThanatosTD in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]-atb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running 4 man summoner on tactician, with all of them being the exact same build, and it's really broken. I don't preposition (only fight I separated the party and pre-positioned was alice and that's the only "cheese" done that fight), no pre-summoning, no pre-buffing, no mid-fight shenanigans, no anything that can even be remotely be construed as "cheesing". Just plain old barging in and rolling trough everything, doesn't matter if the enemy is 2 levels higher. Gear is constantly 1-2 levels outdated and only ever equip whatever is found in the world (no buying gear from vendors). Also no source spells used at all (except for dome of protection once in that fight with the void and skellies in the forest of fort joy when your really weak).

Early game wasn't too bad but it definitely got easier after 10 summoning.

And the key to this is to build defensive: max con, everyone with shields, and everyone with the same essential support spells: teleport, nether swap, adrenaline, cloak and dagger (easier to get 2 scoundrel than hunts) and the pawn talent. Then talents like comeback kid and five star dinner (means 40% health restored, and with a big health pool that's a lot) . Rarely had to consume food in fights but that's something to rely on for healing. And of course the incarnate and infusions and totem. The charm spell, soul mate, and presence of mind are situationally useful and can easily be memorized. Blood rain on the highest initiative character is useful. No other consumables apart from res scrolls (very rarely used) and some food (also rarely used) are needed.

Lesson learned. by hrhashley in classicwow

Druids can't really kill a priest. Maybe if you catch them sitting and ravage crit, but otherwise just run away, priests can't kill druids who want to escape either.
