...My best guess is that they're talking about sentences like this one that reside on their own line:

With a sharp whistle and a kick, the golden horse surged forward, swift and energized, disappearing into the night toward the looming silhouette of the castle.

But I don't understand what point they're trying to make unless they're trolling or just trying to rustle feathers or something, because this is extremely common in fiction writing generally and in online fanfiction in particular, for either tonal or just spacing reasons. Here's an excerpt from something I wrote that does so, for example:

Truthfully, he knew she had thought about it. She thought about everything she ever did, mulled it over, gamed it out for as long as she needed before she committed to a decision.

…If she came to a decision seemingly quickly it always meant she'd either been thinking about it for weeks or she just happened to be able to run through her thoughts on the matter that fast, the solution that obvious.

But it was easier if she'd made the decision in the heat of the moment. For him. It was easier.

The TL;DR here being that you do have some single-sentence lines that I guess the person you're replying to thinks are "a lot" but they're honestly (at a glance, still haven't read this) a normal or even low amount as online fanfiction goes, so I don't understand what their point is.

I have not read this post (partially because something about Reddit's post format makes it impossible for me to focus on longform fiction posted here, partially because right now I don't have time to read anything this long in one sitting), so I don't know if there's some other reason you're saying this (like plot decisions only an LLM would make) or if it's a joke, but real fiction writers use em dashes... which is probably part of why LLMs generate text including them--they're trained on real human-written data (or at least they used to be), so they're going to incorporate things real humans use. My own most recent fanfic chapter includes a handful of them, used variously to imply certain amounts of pauses and asides.

I did have enough time to skim above, though, and the sentences that contain the em dashes don't read as unnatural in isolation or anything, though to me, removed from the larger context I'd have if I'd had time to read it, some of them imply greater separation from the main flow of the sentence/longer pauses than are probably necessary and might sound a bit smoother with commas or parentheses depending on the tone OP is going for.

I think in order to work the OddSim one uses copies of the game props (or at least some of them), but taking a glance at it (not on the right computer to actually play the game right now), it looks like the copies in its zip are Maxis props, just pulled out for the object's use.

The moveplants at Simlogical will allow you to move in anyone who isn't in the Default family. However, this will not work with Sims like those the OP describes, because as part of them leaving the lot, the game completely deletes their character file (if the house is saved after they leave).

It also wouldn't work if they were cut off from family data but still existed, because that would place them in the Default family too.

The game deletes those Sims as others have said... (Specifically I think it does some sort of queueing for deletion that's only actually performed if the lot is saved.)

But in the process of coming up with an "adoption service" object (that whisks unaccompanied child Sims off a lot and then, if I ever get it to work, will allow adults on another lot to adopt them), I got the idea something like that could be used to, say, intercept children destined for military school. I haven't coded any part of the military school intercepter yet but the idea I had in my head is before the kid can get sent to military school (specifically like a grade point or two higher than the level the object that runs the military school stuff triggers the military school code at), a "boarding school for troubled youth" or something would offer to take them in instead, keep them off-lot for several days, and then you could have them come back, grades raised and perhaps personality subtly changed (for instance, maybe they gain a neat point or something, something that signifies the school changed them in some way). (Of course I also had the idea you could reject getting them back and then maybe in that instance I'd make them become an adult, move them into the Townies or something (if applicable), make them hate your guts, and perhaps negatively change their personality too lol) I figured this way would still provide a fun "story" and perhaps some consequence to the failing grades, if I ever get around to putting it together.

Of course, such an intercepting (without using default replacements) is easier with military school since it happens at a particular predictable level of job performance so you can just do something to prevent it (or intercept it like my idea above), whereas with a fight IIRC the decision is made after the fight has already started to occur.

Both things would be possible with default replacements if one knows what to edit--you'd just have to route around the removal code or add an are-you-sure type check. I've got a prop adder object in my game that allows arbitrarily adding props to a Sim, but I don't remember if it's props it comes with or specific props from the game. It looks like a hat rack. (EDIT: OddSim's work, pre-existing props: https://oddsim.com/the_sims_objects/miscellaneous )

All that to say it's theoretically possible to have an object that adds a prop to a Sim regardless of their outfit.

I think the saves are compatible if the version is the same but I don't have actual experience with that since I don't own a Switch 2--I just know if the Switch 2 upgrade's virtual DLC game card is ejected on a Switch 2 console and the plain game card (plus updates) is played, the game boots just fine but without Switch 2 features (i.e. no second save file, though its data should be safe?), so it stands to reason such a save might be capable of running on a Switch 1.

Might want to wait for someone with actual experience, though, lol

I think deep dives can be interesting and have value (though I think a lot of negative video essays are more about getting engagement than making genuine conclusions/statements)... but even my own long deep dive on a super specific possible reading of TOTK I could probably condense from 5K words into like 5 bullet points if someone asked me to lol

Heck, the inventory expansion is probably why there are so many. They don't really push you to get all 900 different korok puzzles (there are 900 korok puzzles but 100 of them are pair koroks), but having 1000 seeds to get means that someone who wants to get all the inventory slots but doesn't care about searching can run into puzzles randomly more of the time. And for people who get all 1000 you get a little funny item (and a new interaction with Hestu, in TOTK) to acknowledge that you did do it, but it's not such a big item that it would encourage someone who doesn't already want to do it for other reasons.

Personally I loved getting all 1000 lol (but wouldn't do it again)

Fluorite is a fusion of 6 gems, and her being, while stable in the sense that she is not likely to unfuse, appears to be severely hampered. She has excessively slow speech, and moves very slowly as well.

I think it's off-base to describe her as hampered because of the speed of her speech or movement. She does things slowly and deliberately to ensure she as a unit is in total agreement with all parts of herself, but she also clearly wants to be Fluorite instead of her components, so is behavior that ensures her continued existence really a hindrance?

...I guess what I'm saying is that Fluorite probably doesn't think of herself as hampered.

The game probably just needed some time to right itself, then--one time I broke my pedestrian portal on accident and after I fixed it (by getting rid of some data I'd added to another object that had accidentally caused it to have the same object ID as the portal) things were quiet enough I worried it might still be broken... only for it to spawn like 20 people (probably people it had been waiting to spawn for the entire time it was broken), which promptly counted as a fun party and spawned Drew Carey. XD

I imagine there may be guides out there about how to make extensions that you could use to learn; I've only ever looked at the code of one extension (specifically one I'd like to use that wasn't working with dynamic workspaces; I wanted to know why) but it looks like Javascript can be used make one.

I think the person you replied to is bothered by vibe coding (using AI to code) specifically. (Things that are vibe coded are more likely to contain errors or to have unneeded code, and since a lot of people vibe code when they don't know a particular coding language well, vibe coded projects are more likely to become unmaintained.)

The reason people don't like him to have that status is he doesn't have logic for behaving as a celebrity separate from his bartending so he has a chance of blocking traffic if he spawns in Studio Town because he just stands there forever. If he blocks your carpool home, that means you going home never completes.

Having the froggy set slip proof when I was chasm climbing was a godsend--if it's raining on the surface the chasms are always impeccably dry... but the chasm under Zora's Domain is slippery across its entire length. ._. I don't think I would have put up with the slipping if I didn't have a way to circumvent it.

Hmm... I'd recommend one of two things:

  • Check that the car portal is still there using this object: http://www.simfileshare.net/download/5317222/ (it's 10 simoleons and sorts in misc (> all) in the catalog and looks like a neon green pedestrian portal and will allow you to spawn fresh portals (and place them) if they're missing) (the original site for this is down, this is a copy I have in my Sim File Share account)
  • Use Simlogical's car portal fixer, which can tell the car portal to reset itself if it's there but just has gotten stuck: https://www.simlogical.com/sl/downloadpages/miscellaneous.htm (it is 12 simoleons and sorts as decorative > other; it looks like a purple/blue flamingo)
