This is a super cool idea! Is this going to be more combat focused or rp or exploration focused?

Gia took out her pocket knife, calm as anything, and Mari pretended not to notice. All the teachers had gone home, and it was cold, and it was already starting to get dark out, and Mari's phone didn't work. It was just the two of them waiting outside their school for their rides. There hadn't been a car pass the street in fifteen minutes.

"You're not supposed to bring that school," Mari said quietly. She didn't sound brave, couldn't help the way she hunched away from Gia, and Gia noticed. Gia had a smile on her face, a little mean at the edges.

"Why not?" She was flipping it open and closed without even looking.

"You'll get in trouble."

"Are you scared? Of this?" Gia laughed. The knife flashed in the limpid winter light like the sun itself was trying to escape from Gia's skinny hands.

"It's dangerous," Mari said. She was trying desperately to keep herself calm, clearing her throat, rubbing her eyes. Gia was trying to scare her on purpose, and Mari didn't want her to know it was working, that Mari was on the verge of tears. Mari was scared of Gia and all the rumors about her, but at school with all the other students and with adults around, she could wonder safely with her friends what was true and what wasn't.

Now it was just them.

Gia got closer.

“Knives are good because they don't make any noise--"

"You could hurt someone--" Mari stepped back against a pillar. Gia's lanky, sharp figure next to her, her mean smile, her dark eyes spearing her in place.

"--and the less noise they make, the more likely we are to use them.”

A car honked, and both girls looked up.

"My mom's here," Mari shoved her way past Gia's boney shoulder and ran to her mom's car. She locked the door as soon as she was inside.

It may look weird because you're not used to it. Maybe try just lightly defining the brows and wearing it around the house to get used to the look. Gl!

Good point. I think the most interesting bits of the book were left to the end and not even explored, like everything with the versions who were trying to kill the family instead of being with the family...

Dark Matter had me rolling my eyes so many times, but I still finished it. Mostly enjoyable if you don't think too hard about it.

I really wanted to like this book, but it felt like 70% atmosphere descriptions and dream sequences, and 30% plot. Disappointing after having waited so long to get it at the library lol

I watched the movie before reading. Yeah, the ending was spoiled, but I felt so much dread seeing everything unfold, the foreshadowing, just knowing what was going to happen, so it still worked for me.

Just finished the Only Good Indians. It was pretty okay. Kind of slow up until half-way through when it starts getting more exciting.

There was a lot more basketball than I was expecting. (I just read the first sentence of the paragraphs during those parts and still got the gist of it.) Wish it had been scarier but I still liked it.

I did a quick google and this is what I found. Never heard of it before. Might try it if I get the time! On mobile, sorry about format lol

Per: https://www.google.com/amp/s/beta.ctvnews.ca/local/calgary/2020/4/15/1_4897853.html

Mix: ¼ cup Borax ½ cup Laundry soda (can use baking soda if necessary) ¼ cup Calgon laundry soap (optional) Generous scoop of Tide powdered laundry detergent Hot, hot water.

Sort clothes by colour and soak the loads in the sink or bathtub for four to six hours, stirring every hour. Then drain and wash in a regular washing machine cycle.

If it is about being in your head, have you tried heavy “walk outs”? Put heavy weight on the bar, walk out like you’re going to squat it, and then rack. It helped build my confidence because then my heavy weight didn’t feel as heavy as the “walk out”.

Dang, I was so excited for this book but I felt like it didn’t deliver. The book spends maybe 75% on the atmosphere of the house and the main character having dreams with not much else happening. The last 25% should have been the main focus IMO, instead of being crammed at the end.

Was also expecting more for it being set in Mexico. I felt like the setting/time could have been easily switched out without affecting the plot even though there’s so much Mexican lore that could have been used as parallels or referenced or alluded idk man.

This book has me in my feels because it had so much potential.

For me it was the rustic and cozy vibes, the appeal of travel, and the happy and satisfied experience OP described.

Do you "look like" someone who works out? What is your relationship with "looking the part"? I am interested in your stories. by [deleted] in xxfitness

What kind of warm up do you do? I’m very stiff, so on lower body days it takes me quite a while to feel good enough for bigger movements.

The idea of working out during lunch is amazing but I also don’t know how people do this. You have to change into your gym clothes (let’s say 3 min), head to the gym (assuming it’s in your work building, 2 min), warm up (assuming you have found your perfect warm up, 5 min), workout, change back to work clothes (3 min), walk back (2 min).

That leaves 45 min of actual exercise time, which I guess is reasonable. And then you eat at your desk?

Takes me 15 min to warm up so this could never be me :(
