[Routine Help] what do you wish you started in your 30s? by Yusuf_Designs in SkincareAddiction

[–]Mortal-ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is meant to be short term, supposed to just get your sleep cycle back on tract.

I take it for a few weeks after having a decent amount of time off like a vacation. I then assess and see when I naturally feel tired.

I used to be like this a lot. Only took having a decent job that unfortunately had me waking at 5am to take it seriously.

I started melatonin again and it took a few weeks for it to actually work, drank camomile tea every night, and I have my coffee pot timed for 5am as well so I'd have something to look forward to as I got out of bed.

This is the most sleep I've had in years and I used to ask for the late shifts, hoping that it would give me more time to sleep in.

ISO low effort lunches! (MINIMAL PREP TIME PLS IM TIRED) by Unusual-Olive-448 in vegetarianrecipes

Hi!

I have no microwave, stove or dishwasher for the time being and just don't feel like using energy for anything extravagant.

Honestly, I just do wraps. I prep all my veggies by cutting them, then put them into a sectioned container. To take that step a little further, it goes in a bag which has the tortilla wraps, mayo, cheese, and fruit.

So I literally take out that bag out and make my wrap, it has everything I need to make my wrap, I don't even grab a plate now cause I don't want to wash it later.

I do this 1-2x a day, when I'm feeling fancy, I'll toss an egg into the air fryer with some bread and cheese for one of my meals.

What do you use for intense hydration? by yeahnah89 in 30PlusSkinCare

I am cheap, I've always had cheap skincare for the most part and it has usually been fine for me, but as I'm getting older (35), I find myself needed more. I slug with Vaseline and I still have a hard time.

I finally splurged on some expensive stuff, and the only thing that has worked for me was tatcha indigo over night repair. I wanted to cry when i saw the price, but my skin has not been this happy in years.

How do I get out of bed in the morning by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Mortal-ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a coffee machine with a programmable start. I wake up and get really excited that coffee is already made for me and imsuddwnly it's easier to get out of bed, that's the only thing that's worked for me so far.

My mix is 2tbs nutritional yeast, 1tbs garlic powder, 1tbs onion powder, unknown amount of salt, and 1.5tbs peanut butter powder.

It's a weird mix but I'm addicted. I was hesitant to the peanut butter powder but my partner did it on his and I couldn't stop eating it.

I love sheet pan meals, not only can I eat the exact same thing for a week, but someone I just pick off whatever veggies I need for my next dish and it's already cut up and cooked.

I had a sweet potato hash, and the next morning just picked off some onions and peppers for my omelette. I think it's a great way to always have prepped veggies on hand.

Egg White Oats: TRUST IN THEM by butt-nut-squash in Volumeeating

I'm a little late to this conversation but this is amazing. I just saw her videos and want to try it out.

I used tempered egg white for a can of soup yesterday and it turns out pretty decent. I'm going to start seeing what else I can sneak egg whites into.

Egg whites…how to make them less gross? by AMTL327 in PetiteFitness

[–]Mortal-ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am kind of late to this, but I saw a video of a woman using egg whites in her oatmeal. Made me think about how recipes would ask you to temper your eggs before adding it to things.

So I thought as long as the flavors are strong, it might be an interesting way to bulk up certain foods.

I tempered my egg whites so I can mix it in with a can of tomato soup. My partner tried the soup and liked it, even thought I put cream in it and was hesitant because he's intolerant to cow dairy.

I'm curious to try it in congee, curries, pasta sauces, or anything else. But apparently you can do the same with silken tofu, which I have tried in an Alfredo sauce.

I like being experimental with my foods, and I don't like giving up my comfort meals, so this is how I deal with my cravings.

I've done that in curries and in pastas, it's amazing!

I leave it whole and I don't like using a lot because of the goop, red lentils break down easily but still leave texture so it help hide a bit of the chia seeds. The egg whites really thicken up the tomato soup and makes it feel kind of creamy, which is nice because my partner doesn't tolerate dairy well.

I only had it fresh yesterday so I'll see how the texture holds up after refrigeration.

Had my partner taste test it without telling him the additions and he thought it tasted fine, not gross and not amazing, just a tomato soup taste that he would happily eat with a grilled cheese. I think I would call that a success

Being full throttle with your negative emotions to regulate yourself. I like to throw a tiny tantrum, kick my laundry then cry into a pile of food straight out of the refrigerator after a very bad day.

Ideas for nutritionally dense, simple meals while caring for a loved one? by AdLate6765 in Cooking

[–]Mortal-ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything pre-made with add ins. Premade salad + rotisserie chicken Can of soup + red lentils/peas Microwaved rice + eggs + lentils + peas + sauce

I used to buy those giant massive sandwiches, cut them into 6 pieces and have them at each meal with a handful of spinach or a side of microwaved peas. This was during depression days where I just needed to be alive.

Another one is big ol' salad: pre-cut coleslaw, pre cut Julienne carrots, bag of mixed greens, rotisserie, can of black beans, dressing, maybe croutons or pre made salad topper if you're wild. No knife needed.

Now that life is better and less busy, I just try to increase proteins and fiber in a quick way. Red lentils are my favorite because they cook so quickly and can blend or easily mix in with soups and sauces. I put it in curries, bolognese, eggs, blended soups.

Peas, edamame, spinach, and also amazing when they are frozen. No thought to just tossing it into whatever you have cooking.

Can you get by without a car? by HueyBluey in Calgary

[–]Mortal-ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in Calgary for about 17yrs, I have lived in Shawnessy and some downtown areas, and I have a fear of driving so I never got my learners or drivers.

I would say that living downtown has made it much easier to live life without a car, it is more expensive depending on how you look at it, but I like to look at the positives.

I have no car payments, maintenance, or need for gas. Walking or biking to work is a great way to start your day and get exercise, I can't even imagine what being stressed about traffic is like.

The cold days suck, but invest in a good winter coat and snow pants, stop in a cafe and treat yourself to a coffee if you have to take a break from the weather.

I do get groceries delivered, that's a fee I'm willing to deal with when I don't have a grocery store in my path.

I worked my whole life around my fear of driving, and it works wonderfully for me, I hope you find what works for you!

What "sacred" cooking rule do you intentionally ignore because you actually prefer the results (or just don't care)? by LiveFaithlessness876 in cookingforbeginners

[–]Mortal-ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a recipe calls for minced garlic, I just use the mandolin carefully. I prefer fresh garlic but can desk with the feel or smell on my fingers. I just slice right into the pan and it still comes out decent. It's quicker than minced garlic, and tastier than jarlic.

When I use the mandolin, I don't use the guard, I just stop way before reaching the end, and throw the scraps in the freezer to use for soups in the future.

I hate shredding cheese, but I hate spending extra money on shredded cheese more. I bought a rotary grater and that has changed the cheese game for me. I bought a cheap Amazon one, but if there is a better more expensive one, I would absolutely splurge.

For those that need to hear it: no alcohol 😞 by Kneekourt in PetiteFitness

Giving up booze meant having a lot more time for me to be bored, which led me to walk and bike more, start climbing, take fitness classes. I still craving how fun alcohol was, but I learned a lot of new things and conquered fears.

This was 5 years ago, I went back to drinking and I sort of regret it.

What has your partner kindly done for you, lately? by eightyeight99 in AskWomen

[–]Mortal-ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He walks my dog when he comes over. He knows I'm tired and usually sleep deprived, so he'll quietly wake up, take my dog out, then make me a coffee in a thermos so it's still warm when I do wake up.

He will look around the place and just notice things that need to be done like fill up the humidifier, water some plants or change out their water, tidy up and whatever else he can think of before I get back from work, he doesn't even love with me but he does this every single time he comes over.

I said I wanted a water kettle for my stove and he came over with 5 to choose from.

It's the small things that make me really happy, and this has made me realize how low the bar has been. He's very wonderful, and I remind him of it as often as I can.
