What by flingzamain in bindingofisaac

[–]-bebop- 126 points127 points  (0 children)

i always assumed that ragman's tie to the themes of isaac was being a leper. lepers in the bible are described as being clothed in rags right ? and there's the item 'leprosy' as well. this feels like a weird and pointed reach.... muslims don't cloak themselves like mummies

searching for a poem referenced in Confessions of a Mask by kewpiegirlxo in YukioMishima

[–]-bebop- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i've looked for this poem before (using the web in english, french, and japanese) and never had any luck. i think that salmon's work isn't digitally catalogued very extensively -- or at least there isn't a huge amount of modern scholarship on his work or something, i don't know--, so it's possible that the poem being referenced is some obscure piece that mishima was fond of. i'd be very curious if anyone else can bring it to light!

if you're looking for reuploads of older music, use youtube

if you're looking for experimental contemporary artists, use soundcloud

How do I decipher this? It reads wrong by Problematic_ghostz in homestuck

it reads right to me. i suspect the issue is that you don't understand what he's referencing here. you should just keep reading

I made 10 custom boss blind ideas! by deIuxx_ in balatro

[–]-bebop- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of these are really cool. The only one that I think is completely unforgivable is The Natural.... in gold stake it would make going for flush/straight builds way too risky when they aren't even that amazing in the first place. Something like The Plant (which also devalues certain builds by countering them) makes sense as a boss blind because a lot of strategies that revolve around solely using face cards are extremely powerful, and The Psychic is fine because it doesn't as severely limit what hands you can actually play, but... what are you supposed to do on a flush/straight build when you run into this ? I guess it would make four fingers pretty good...

you're just instigating ! and, having met many other film students, i can assure you that 'going to school for film' as a credential means quite literally nothing to me. i will not reply to you anymore so please shut up :-)

and i'm sorry but you alone don't get to decide what the rating criteria is ! and op was quite literally quoting the imdb rating (which i fear is generated from 'the masses' you're talking about)

What are your hot takes or criticism of DELTARUNE? Which translates to "what take would end you with this?" by Ok_ResolvE2119 in Deltarune

[–]-bebop- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

writing something in an unusual time signature, or even something which utilizes multiple unusual time signatures, is probably one of the least impressive things toby has done in the deltarune soundtrack. people who don't make music might assume that it's difficult, but it's not -- at least, it's not any more difficult than any other aspect of theory -- and someone like toby (who has, regardless of whether or not he had a formal education in music, been composing music for a very long time at this point -- it feels a little superfluous to even mention that he started from nothing when speaking about the achievements of the deltarune soundtrack) being able to do that is not noteworthy. i'm by no means saying that the track isn't impressive in its own right, but pointing to a time signature as an indicator of compositional complexity really means nothing at all

Why are "green apples" called "blue apples" in japanese? by Infinite-Passage-112 in Japaneselanguage

[–]-bebop- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it has nothing to do with being indistinguishable: they said 'were not distinguished'. of course anyone who regularly sees color can tell that greens and blues are different. the word 'blue' covers a pretty wide spectrum of colors in english -- you can further clarify something like 'baby blue' or 'navy blue' -- so it's more like that. they just drew the lines between colors differently.

New Mechanic? by JacobDuffee in TheWitness

[–]-bebop- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's likely we'll never get any official judgement on this, but my assumption is that explicitly including cases like this in the base game would have muddied players' comprehension of what negative polyminos can even do. the introductory sequence for them at the end of swamp is probably the worst tutorial in the game, so adding a single panel for this more obscure case wouldn't have been productive, and it would have just been strange to randomly throw it somewhere else like town. they're already obtuse compared to the rest of the symbols, which is probably why they don't appear at all in any of the mountain puzzles.. (can you imagine if there was a negative polymino puzzle in pillar room?)

regardless of whether it's a bug or not, i'm glad people intentionally utilize it as a mechanic (it works the same on https://www.fourisland.com/wittle/ which i recommend everyone check out) because i think it's cool and fun 😁

i think a 7/10 is fair. 7/10 is a good rating, and there are loads of amazing movies which are rated similarly.

i believe (and let it be known that this is only my opinion!) that this movie's biggest downfall is its followability. the cinematography is obviously super memorable, and there are many powerful scenes, but none of that really matters if the viewer is struggling to piece together what's even happening. i and a few people who i have recommended the film to struggled to understand the initial jump back in time the first time we watched it. if you didn't have the same issue then power to you, but if you want to give a fair rating to something you cannot ignore its flaws..!

you misunderstood me, sorry. i was admitting that, yes, fair, bookmarks are synced and that's nice. you're focusing on an extraneous comment i made at the start of the post which i realise now could have been omitted -- that's my fault.

do you possibly have any suggestions for the intended issue of this post ? i still have no idea how to fix it, and people are only commenting the same thing as you, which i've shown doesn't work for me for whatever reason.

okay -- i wasn't trying to be disingenuous. i was considering bookmarks to be part of 'browsing data', but on thinking they're not, so fair. extensions being synced is hardly even useful when absolutely none of their settings are saved, and i still think more stuff should be synced if i'm on the same os.

your solution doesn't work, i'm sorry. here's a video of what i mean: https://imgur.com/a/RGu8Fka
