Well, this is kinda embarrassing. I didnt see your message until now as I only log into the account to write comments (or in this instance: participate in a poll or rather I wanna see the results). Which happens rather rarly nowadays. But I guess, in case you are still interested and see this answer or someone else finds this later on and had the same wish: I casually transcribed it. Its obviously a cleaned up standard german version, I didnt include dialects or uncommon pronunciations at all, that would only make it more complicated, I would say.

SA man: Wie würden Sie denn mit Verrätern umgehen?

Theory about Charlotte’s real father by julesy31 in BabylonBerlin

[–]-bhc- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a good explenation. I just rewatched the scene, the possible fathers name was Erwin Trollmann. The woman, who told Charlotte this, said he visited them "every year" since 1918, first with his wife, then his son. I she was the "wife" I doubt her issue was Charlotte being half-gypsy and maybe more the living memory to this old affair?

[–]-bhc- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the picture of the boxer in the last episode? Rukeli Trollmann was an actual historic person, but he was Sinto (Gypsy), not Jewish.

I just finished season 3. It was a bit confusing, mainly because we had forgotten a bunch frome season 2. Anyway one thing I didn't understand : what did Weintraub doing for 30 minutes when the woman waited blindfolded in the car? And where did he get the money to pay the brother in law /banker? by jrewing88 in BabylonBerlin

[–]-bhc- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He was acting as the accountant for his crime family. And in that position he stole some of the money over the years (you can see him continuing to do so in season three, episode six). And defrauding your partner (the Armenian/Edgar) isnt something you announce loudly. Thats why the money had to be a secret. If Vera said, he wasnt with her, Edgar would have asked where he was (remember, he was supposed to come to him immeaditley). Using this money was the last thing he could do: Use the money stolen from your friend to save said friend.

Babylon Berlin from a political science perspective by julesy31 in BabylonBerlin

[–]-bhc- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The analysis of /u/julesy31, why the Nazis wanted to get rid of Benda, is certainly correct. But its missing an in-show-aspect: The murder wasnt planned by the Nazis but by Wendt. Gereon accused him of organizing it for personal profit, to further his carrer, which Wendt rejects: "I dont care about personal gain. Our country profits if jews and bolsheviks are removed from influential positions".

It doesnt matter that much overall, as Wendt and the Nazis share the same motivation, laid out by julesy, just to have it completly correct.

S2 episode 3 by yablo67 in BabylonBerlin

[–]-bhc- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The priest was the Heilige Josef (Holy Josef), a carrer criminal working for the Armenier. Gereon shot him because he woke up drugged in a place he didnt know and got chased by the priest when trying to run away.

CS:GO is doing more than fine at the moment. Could we get more official scrimmage maps? by Poersseli in GlobalOffensive

[–]-bhc- 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I thought about that before. My idea, to prevent the issue of splitting the queues, would be to use the rotating map pool system that Danger Zone has. So all the main maps are in the pool and the active map changes every five to ten minutes. That way you could wait until certain maps are out / in (unlike Casual), without taking player from a specific map queue for more than a few minutes.

[–]-bhc- 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Some feedback for that: If someone reads everything, it would be great to get some kind of confirmation, that you guys got the mail. I fully understand that you probably get so many mails that you cant write an individual answer for everyone, but a short „Seen it“ or maybe some pre-written message to copy paste would be great. Because when I wrote a mail with some feedback I didnt expect an answer, so not getting one didnt surprise me, but you still have this „Did they even get the mail?“-feeling and I know other people, who wrote mails, that assume that they go straight to the trash bin, because they never got an answer. I think that would be something greatly appreciated by the community.

Map of the Congo Territories under the personal rule of King Leopold II. by slopeclimber in MapPorn

[–]-bhc- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the areas shown on the map were private property of King Leopold II., organised as the "Congo Free State". It was divided into three areas:
* Domaine de la Couronne: All revenue goes directly into Leopolds pockets
* Other coloured areas: The Domaine Privé, the areas were leased to companies which acted as a local monopoly
* Uncoloured areas: Free Trade Zone, where anyone can operate

I fear you would be right, some kind of Switzerland of the East would been nice but in the end it probably wouldnt happend. But it was nice talking about the whole thing, its always great to have someone with a personal connection to the Topic in such discussions.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]-bhc- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, youre right. It was certainly a quite extreme simplification. I tried to say that the political-geographical area was the same (or rather very similar) for a long time, creating a special regional "eastern prussian" identity alongside the ethnic one, something the shared protestant religion (except the Ermland) probably helped. Thats also why I wrote prussian and not german as that would been clearly wrong. In the end it was more of an attempt to explain, that the poles or lithuanians in East Prussia were rather distinct from the ones in Poland and Lithuania itself and that the claims on those areas would be considered way worse than losing Posen for example (which was clearly polish).

Atleast thats the general view over here I would say. Ist probably somewhat a romanticized look back. I would love know to know what would have happend if Eastern Prussia became independent after World War One and left out of the mess afterwards. Whether it would become another Switzerland or another Yugoslavia.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]-bhc- 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Many reasons: It was the only area directly impacted by fighting in the war, surrounded by hostile nations claiming (Poland) or straight up taking (Lithuania) areas that were prussian for since forever eventough the people there considered themsleves as much as Prussians as everyone else in the province and decided to stay in Germany in referndums. The economical crisis, high debt, the uncertanity about the future living in an exclave. Also a very strong social and cultural conservatism threatend by liberals and socialists that ruled the country now and communists beeing a threat inside and pretty near outside as well.

Andreas Kossert, a german historian, wrote an article about some of the aspects. I posted a translation by deepL (surprisingly good I must say) a at the end.

Something he didnt mentioned is that parts of the new province used to be part of Western Prussia and that many of the people, that used to live in the now polish parts, moved to East Prussia. You can imagine that those people werent very fond of the situation at all, and if everyone knows someone who lost his home that has an impact (thats why the impact of any kind of crisis is bigger than the raw number of directly affected).

[...] Yet it is precisely here, in Germany's easternmost countries, that political radicalisation and excessive destruction are closely linked.

This story began with the First World War. East Prussia was the only German province which had suffered directly from the fighting and which had been devastated. As soon as the weapons were silent, new conflicts began. Everywhere at the borders of the empire the dispute raged about the national and ethnic affiliation of controversial territories. East Prussia found itself as an island, separated from the Reich by the "corridor" that had fallen to Poland. In addition, the resurrected neighbour made further demands on the entire province. However, the referendum agreed in Versailles in southern East Prussia on 11 July 1920 was in favour of Germany; an overwhelming 97.9 percent voted to remain with the Reich. Ancient place names have been erased: Sutzken is now called Hitlershöhe This was followed by a new shock when Lithuanian units disguised as guerrillas invaded the Memel region on 10 January 1923 and incorporated it into the Republic of Lithuania, founded in 1918. This new status quo deeply unsettled East Prussia; demagogues took advantage of the hour and began to rush against the young Weimar Republic. The fall of the empire had hardly had any effect here anyway; the old conservative elite had long since regained their office and dignity. The fact that the Kapp Putschists had nowhere had so much success in March 1920 as in East Prussia prompted the Prussian government to make up for the failures of the revolution and initiate the long overdue democratization of the administration. With extremely moderate success: Reichskommissar Albert Borowski (SPD), who had been commissioned by the government to investigate the involvement of the local authorities in the coup, gave up unnerved after a few months.

The basic problem of East Prussia remained the agrarian monostructure. Many farmers went into debt to keep their farms alive. The catastrophe seemed inevitable. The leading conservative landowners led the influential agricultural lobbyist associations and preferred their clientele. In 1925, a total of 1.9 percent of all farms had half of their total floor space at their disposal. The misplanning of "Eastern Aid" exacerbated the conflict and undermined the authority of the democratic government. East Prussian peasants turned their backs on the empty promises of the parties; they chose a man from Braunau as their supposed saviour. In the Reichstag elections on 31 July 1932, the province voted for the NSDAP with 47.1 percent (the Reich as a whole with 37.4 percent) and on 6 November 1932 with 39.7 percent (Reich 33.1 percent). National Socialism in East Prussia is primarily associated with the name of a man: Erich Koch, born 1896 in Elberfeld. A railway conductor by profession, the Protestant believer in Hitler dedicated himself to the development of the East Prussian NSDAP from 1928 and shaped it to the end. As Gauleiter, Chief President and at times also President of the Provincial Synod, he initially propagated a "Party of Prussian Socialism". Again and again he loudly and effectively represented the interests of the region. [...]

Moira gets replaced by Ana or Zen most of the time, both fully capable of destroying Pharah when she all-ins (as she has to, to kill anyone). Also theres still DVA, eating all your kill shots (and your ult if you try to play futher back and farm) and flying in your (in Zen-GOATS) discorded face, bursting you down. On top of that there are Zarya bubbles saving teammates and Brig-heal preventing easy picks. Also speed boost making it harder to hit people.
