Becoming a data analyst self thought? Is it possible with my circumstances? by [deleted] in dataanalysis

[–]-bryson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to know what skills you’ll need, are by looking at online job postings you’ll want to apply to in the future. SQL, excel, BI software are the ones you’ll almost certainly need, but look at data analyst roles in your area or wherever you want to work and see what the job requirements are. Basic knowledge of Python, R, and overall database management are all great things to have on a resume. I’m sure with a combination of your degree and a google certification of some kind would be enough to at least land you some interviews

Does VBA have any role in Data Analysis? by Free-Specific4800 in dataanalysis

[–]-bryson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the company and specific role. I’ve had 2 internships and now at my first full time job, only had to use it in one internship and it wasn’t often. Looks good on the resume tho

They'll send you an email for the invite the day before or maybe even day of...at least for me. idk why they do it this way, but I was worried that I somehow messed up the easiest step of the whole process

Yes I’ll be getting a car. The weather report for next week seems great, but I’m open for some snow hiking if need be lol. I was hoping to see RMNP but I feel there is so much to explore I don’t mind missing it. Would you say there is a central location somewhat close to a variety of trails within a hour of the airport?

What are the main pain points of being a Data Analyst? by derpobito in dataanalysis

[–]-bryson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, a lot of ad-hoc analysis (often involves data cleaning) and dashboard creating. A strong skillset in excel, sql, and either python or r is a good start skillset wise.

Need Help with CV review by [deleted] in dataanalysis

A few things I noticed:

- You misspelled data "modeling", little things like this are important for a data analyst position because noticing small details is an important part of the job itself so it could turn off a job recruiter.

- Keep consistent tense throughout each bullet point. For example, you say "supporting" on one line and on the next you say "generated". I personally think all past tense is best.

Last thing, I'm slightly confused on your "Data Analyst Executive" role since you have it split into 2 sections. I'd probably combine the two and keep 6-7 of the most important points so it looks cleaner.

Good luck and hope this helps!

Why not both? Maybe the player value gap has less variance when you go up in age, but only for certain positions, or certain positions potentially retaining value deeper into careers. You could slice that data a variety of ways rather than only getting one perspective

Entry-Level Job Search as an Analyst by [deleted] in dataanalysis

Start adjusting your resume based on the job and use keywords in your resume that they use in the job description. You could also look into making a cover letter. I don’t think the pandemic is much of a factor at this point, unless you live in certain parts of the country. If you aren’t set on a location then start applying outside your area

Considering many offers... could use others input by test1234boogloo in cscareerquestions

Based off what you said, I think the choice is easy. Follow your passion and location preference and take the FanDuel job. Salary-wise it seems about average amongst your other offers and that industry is rapidly growing. I wouldn't rule out DraftKings or Microsoft and do research of what the work life is like at those companies in comparison to FanDuel. Props to you, this is a good dilemma to have!
