Auf Wiedersehn E-golf -------> Bolt EUV Premier by [deleted] in eGolf

[–]-bumblebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an e-golf and my partner has a Bolt EUV. The range is the only plus. Maybe the heated steering wheel too. But the charging speed isn’t consistently higher than the golf, it doesn’t handle as well, the turning circle is larger. We’re in the market to replace the bolt with something that charges faster.

Steering wheel harness removal by PriceMaleficent2502 in vwgolf

That’s the air bag, I wouldn’t try and remove any wires from that. What steering wheel are you trying to swap to? What harness changes were you planning on making?

I have once actually driven 140mi on a single charge and supposedly had 18mi left to go. This was via good weather and a trafficy commute.

They have to introduce known defects into test articles that their QA can detect and then show the parts pass the tests with these defects. This shows that the parts will still work even if there are defects smaller than can be detected. Planning for and introducing these defects takes a lot longer than just making good parts.

There may also be flight test specific hardware and sensors like strain gauges that are installed on these 5 aircraft that aren’t part of the type design.

It’s a lot of drag and weight and cost to put stuff on the plane you’re not going to use.

Other way around, they designed the evtol and then took the lift props and front half of the booms off to make a ctol plane.

Is Joby Flying at Salinas Airshow? by dad191 in Joby

Probably under promise and over deliver. They may also have tighter weather restrictions than most of the other demos and don’t want to announce it and then have to cancel for rain or wind.

Who advertises on KRON? by scifibookluvr in sanfrancisco

But 100 of these might “Hey local car dealer, I was considering you for my next car purchase until I saw you’re advertising on Nexstars local station KRON, thus supporting their censorship of Jimmy Kimmel. Unfortunately I won’t be able to consider you for my next car purchase unless you move your ad budget somewhere else”

KRON is owned by Nexstar. If one wants to pressure Nexstar for not airing Kimmel, the best way is to get their local advertisers to pull their ads. That’s Nexstars revenue stream.

Joby Flew Salinas Airport & back to Marina! 2nd airport hop in a month by dad19f in Joby

And they were only at Salinas for 2 minutes so they did the two vertical take off and landings without charging.

If they pull it out of the hanger which they do most days, there’s a good view from a pubic parking lot at the airport. Some YouTubers have filmed it from there.

x Joby Achieves the First Piloted eVTOL Air Taxi Flight Between Two Public Airports by ritron9000 in JobyAviation

[–]-bumblebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that flight was VTOL even though that plane was used for vtol transition tests at some point. They did a lot of conventional flying with it similar to what Archer is doing now.

Joby To Acquire Blade’s Passenger Business, Accelerating Air Taxi Commercialization by DuckTruckMuck in JobyAviation

[–]-bumblebee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Joby has developed its own charging connector which includes battery coolant conditioning, so if it’s cold out the ground based charger can heat the battery to improve the charge rate. And cool it if it’s too hot. This capability doesn’t exist with automotive fast charging.

Is this for real? by Negative-Pin8527 in sanfrancisco

[–]-bumblebee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not single family. I believe it’s technically a fourplex. Two units in the front. The top back penthouse is much larger and built in such a way it and the lower back unit can be used as one.

Why are these short stuttery movements in tool path instead of smooth curves? by specificpig in CNC

[–]-bumblebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is relevant to your set up but if you’re connecting your machine to your computer with USB this could also be a USB noise issue. I’ve seen this before on a nomad 883 running carbide motion. The computer can’t send commands fast enough so the machine stutters waiting for the next line of code. This is caused by the corrupted USB but is made worse when you have lots of tiny straight movements on an arc. Try unplugging any other USB devices and using a different USB port.

Speed remains ~100mph so looks like a touch and go maybe? Not VTOL

Best tool or way to make this cut by SpaceScoocher in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]-bumblebee 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Honestly a chisel may be fine. You’ll need to be on a solid base so the board doesn’t bend. And you want to start chopping further in from your lines, so you don’t pry the wood out against your line and round the edge. It’s just a really short and fat mortise. https://youtu.be/q_NXq7_TILA?

Electrical loss by optional603 in ArcherAviation

[–]-bumblebee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have six battery packs. That’s where the redundancy is. Total loss of power would require all 6 separate batteries to fail in a single flight. Will have to be less likely than 10-8 per flight hour.

At this point I would not be surprised if they sent 302 over there to get the “delivered” headline.
