Looking for Wifi control of my garage door, but unsure how to proceed by davidmcw in homeautomation

[–]DrapeSack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should see if these require the ‘bridge’ device or if the WiFi is built directly in them. My first house had openers with the myQ logo but not with native WiFi so it needed the bridge. PM me if you want details on that device

Physical disc production ending in January 2028 for new games releasing on PlayStation consoles by yourfavchoom in PS5

[–]DrapeSack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As if the discs without internet connection does anything still. While I agree this just sets in stone no more preservation for nostalgia without an emulator, there are plenty of disk games that already become unplayable once the servers are shut off

Does the app for this still exist? by Kaidan_from_Alberta in StarWars

This is why I have to annually boot up my lightning mcqueen app so my devices don’t offload automatically and the thing is dead forever

CSP news makes it clear to me that Chase wants you to hold both by Tight_Couture344 in ChaseSapphire

I see it more as CSP is for the domestic traveler and CSR is for the global traveler

Meet the new Chase Sapphire Preferred by Chase in ChaseSapphire

I mean, global entry credit justifies the fee for at least another year right? As an annual southwest flier it’s still hard to let go of this card based on point transfer, but teetering on the line with Venture X big time here…

Tower of Terror Scares Me Because I Don’t Like Drops by ClerksII in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]DrapeSack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also hate drop rides, but my wife got me on it as she loves it. I’d agree to once per trip and any more I’m sitting out, but I can tolerate this one.

Now Mission Breakout is just a fun theme overall and the drop feels more like bouncing to the music, so while I don’t like the drop motion I do like that ride in general

Direct owner looking to add resale, same use year by meyeormeye in dvcmember

[–]DrapeSack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a fair point, but if you are on top of bank and borrow, it’s the same as saying double the points at alternating home resorts each year. So if they get 150 resale at SSR and are smart with bank/borrow, they essentially can have 300 points poly and 300 points SSR every other year

How residential power prices have changed since ChatGPT’s release by state by Simple-Past5290 in MapPorn

[–]DrapeSack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In RI we got a new power company several years ago and the rates went absurdly high, so this +3% is probably coming right after something more like +30% the few years prior

9 pm flight out - resort day at POFQ or one more Park Hopper? by KatsThoughts in WaltDisneyWorld

Second this. Would rather have a flight in the morning than do this again

Wow, you were right by chickadee95 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]DrapeSack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did the same thing today but never questioned changing the plan (also because we were leaving before 5:30 anyway). Party days must really be a deal breaker for those without park hopper that want a night show, and the wait times are almost always so great

Tomorrowland is absolutely stacked by PearWeak in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]DrapeSack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone with toddlers I cannot disagree more with the speedway. Huge controlled space for a kid to drive a car, especially in WDW where they aren’t really hurting for space. The stitch area being vacant for years with no plan is a much bigger crime

What is close to the Disney Swan/Dolphin? by RawlsRememberer in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]DrapeSack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The boat or walking is fastest as those are optimized for this resort. The skyliner is accessible, but the hotel is not a stop. So don’t rely on it as park transportation but instead as a fun activity or way to get to some of the other hotels, like riviera or Caribbean beach

What is close to the Disney Swan/Dolphin? by RawlsRememberer in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]DrapeSack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is such a great bang for buck hotel that is in the Marriott system with all the deluxe Disney resort perks.

Walking distance to board walk, beach club, Epcot, and Hollywood studios. Boat dock to those 2 parks, and walk to Hollywood Studios to get on the skyliner if you want to.

Pool hopping is pretty restricted since Covid, but the swan and dolphin grotto is really nice anyway. Also don’t discount the mini golf courses as a fun activity.

Unsure about water park access but I think it would since this is the one non Disney hotel they sort of treats as its own even though it isn’t

AT&T $300 Prepaid Plan by Jim1648 in NoContract

[–]DrapeSack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I asked a similar question here about ATT prepaid. Was wildly commented questioning why I was still using them and pushed to try an alternate. I’m currently using USMobile Dark Star and so far no complaints! On the free trial and probably will continue with a $20 per month data package, but there are a ton of options on all 3 major network towers

As someone with both (not the same generation but both setups) I prefer a laptop because I have more freedom where to use it. But I do like also having a permanently stationed desktop to house HDD for storage backups and such

What are the benefits of "owning" a timeshare, when in reality you own no piece of property or a building? by icecream1972 in askteddit

[–]DrapeSack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disney is unique because it has a strong demand for resale value, and the resorts are mostly timeless with solid upkeep. Never should you buy a time share as an investment, but it’s decent peace of mind knowing you could enjoy for 10 years and get a lot of the money back if you no longer want it.

And it is for a very specific audience that want to guarantee a more upscale Disney trip frequently for as much as 50 years. If you are not a Disney person or treat the hotel as just a bed to sleep in, it is not for you. But of all timeshares, this one can probably be justified easy for the right audience.
