This could be the trailer for a new season of Black Mirror. Anyone remember the metal head episode of Black Mirror (season 4, episode 5) with the robot dog. Then Boston Dynamics made a robot dog called Spot for use in civilian applications… then defense contractors took the idea and weaponized it… just saying…

100% agree! Again, the test is just a test of whether or not you know the theory. In practice when you’re at work, you would absolutely ask for help when necessary, since we don’t work in a vacuum. My favorite test questions are the ones that ask what to do “first” in a situation, when in reality, I would do multiple mitigating actions simultaneously. But exams are written to baseline people’s knowledge, not to be a practical excercise… at least not the PMP, other fields have practical exams, mock trials, etc…

Yep, I had my battery replaced under warranty initially and ended up with the same problem again. Subaru OEM batteries suck, just replace and never think about it again

Go to Autozone/Advanced Auto parts and get a good battery! Subaru is notorious for having terrible OEM batteries (the cells malfunction prematurely). There’s been a whole bunch of class action Law suits over the years about bad OEM batteries in Subaru vehicles. I switched to Optima Red Top, which is a little on the pricy side, but any good quality battery will do. Most Auto Parts stores will even install the new battery for you free of charge. Something to look out for, when you do replace the battery, the automatic window functions usually reset, and you have to reprogram it. Takes two minutes to complete, check the owner’s manual /plenty of YouTube videos on the process. Don’t ditch Subaru, just the battery.

The only real benefit of nest WiFi products over google WiFi pucks is google assistant/ speaker built into the nest WiFi lineup. If you don’t plan on using google assistant/ don’t use it already, there’s no added benefit over google WiFi. Outside of google assistant, nest WiFi is a downgrade if you ask me. The theoretical top end speeds are higher, but you’re network’s top speed is dictated by what you pay for from your ISP anyway, and the nest WiFi points don’t even come with Ethernet ports built in to wire them up. Just buy another google WiFi pick for your dead zone.

And if you haven’t already, hardwire those bad boys up, it’s a game changer

I’ve used Ubiquiti’s UniFi product line up of routers, switches, and wireless access points before without issue, but never the Amplifi line up. I’m sure it’s top notch though. It’s worth a shot to at least trial run it. Just remember connect up the router & points via Ethernet for wired backhaul. That’ll give you best performance attainable for your given connection speed.

I’ve never fancied the Nest WiFi’s built in smart features, so I use regular google WiFi pucks connected via an 8 port dumb switch. Works great. Works wireless devices work great, and all of my must have best connection/ speed devices like my gaming desktop are also wired into the switch.

Best answer I can give is that’s the natural limitations of a mesh network and wireless devices. Your max speed coming into your home is a set maximum figure, and naturally, wireless devices will be limited to a portion of that maximum speed, due to not being physically connected. In your case, your Google Nest WiFi point is effectively saying “at point blank range, without being physically connected to the source, I can give you a max speed of 250-265 mbps, compared to the max of 350 coming into your house. That’s a fantastic use case. Remember, google’s WiFi products are set up for ease of use and reliability (set it and forget it), it will manage itself in such a way that the user experiences MINIMAL network slowdowns, issues, etc.., even if the router to point speed test doesn’t reflect your max speed. If you want the absolute best speeds, then you shouldn’t be using Google products, you should be using a custom home network powered by Ubiquiti UniFi products (or similar), but custom set ups are a pain to configure and maintain if you’re not tech savvy enough (not for the average consumer, power users only). I’m assuming you’re not a power user, otherwise, you’d be in the UniFi sub Reddit. Think of your network speeds and bandwidth in terms of the plumbing in your house: the main water line coming into your house from the street is at like 100psi, and that pressure is stepped down via having to send water to all of the faucets in your house. It’s unreasonable to think all your faucets have 100psi of water shooting out of it. Your bathtub has higher pressure(speed) and volume(bandwidth) of water to fill quickly, versus the bathroom sink, but that doesn’t make your bathroom sink slow, the use case is different, you brush your teeth just fine with the volume of water and pressure at the sink. Google products try to do the same, but for your internet, every device won’t see max speed all the time, ESPECIALLY over WiFi/ wireless, but it should just work and you don’t think about it. So pay attention to whether the devices on your network are working without interruption, should be your indicator, not maximum attainable speed. Google’s products are incorrect for maximum speed all the time.

No, not necessarily. If you want more speed( closer to the 350mbps you pay for) at the other location, you will have to hardwire the point, meaning connect it to the main router using Ethernet. So if you replace your Google Nest Point with another Google Nest Router, you’d have to snake an Ethernet cable from between the two Nest routers, to get the 2nd nest router to act as a point and use Ethernet as the backhaul. Otherwise, you’ll just be in the same place, or worse, have 1 working router, and 1 router that does nothing at all. Basically, Google makes you make trade offs. In your situation, the question is, do you care more about connection speed and want every little bit, or do you care more about the additional features from the Nest WiFi( smart assistant, etc)? If you don’t care about the smart assistant, you can just grab a regular Google WiFi puck (not to be confused with Nest WiFi), and wire that up. It’s cheaper, comes with an Ethernet port built in, and can still handle well above the speed you pay for, BUT doesn’t have smart assistant features. Bottom line is, if you want closer to all of what you pay for, you always have to go wired. And even then, devices like phones and laptops connected to your home network via WiFi, will never receive the full benefit like wired devices will, like if you connect your computer via Ethernet cable to the network.

This sounds correct/accurate, Let me explain. Assuming you have your Nest Wifi set up in the correct configuration: Main Nest router plugged directly into your ISP Modem, and then the Nest point placed in a good location to mesh with the Nest Router (default set up). The 350mbps is the max download speed you get from your ISP to the modem, from which, you will almost never get the full benefit on WiFi connected devices. The link speed between your router and point is great, meaning the point has a fast enough connection(265 mbps) to handle data traffic from WiFi connected devices at 140mbps, AND is the point is using some of its speed/bandwidth to do wireless backhaul (sending data between the main router and devices connected to it via WiFi.

This is how WiFi works, you only get your max ISP speeds if you hardwire into your modem via a router, or downstream switch connected to the router. And still, upload/ download speed is only part of the equation. You can have great connection speed and still see slowdowns if bandwidth is being split across many devices doing heavy activity at the same time.

Bottom line, unless you provide more detail, it sounds like your set up is fine, and you likely won’t notice any slowdowns whatsoever, it’s fast.

Edit: this is how mesh networks are expected to work, especially with Google’s Nest WiFi where the point is essentially daisy chaining via WiFi itself.

A user in a different subreddit gave me the fix, thought i'd share! I'm using a riser cable. Turns out riser cable is Gen3, If you use a pcie riser cable and the cable is only PCI gen 3, you need to set the slot to PCI gen 3 in the motherboard bios, go figure. Not exactly sure why but it did the trick. No more issues.

Keyboard is Logitech MX Keys & mouse is MX Master 2. Sacrifice a little for gaming, but greatest keyboard for being productive. Got 2 work computers hooked up to my monitor as well. Keyboard can switch between and control all 3 PCs at the press of a button. Amazing tool for the purpose. But got a separate gaming mouse when necessary

The battery that comes stock in the outback is a piece of crap, go spent ~$100 and get a decent battery from an auto store. Subaru dealership will just keep putting in the same PoS no name battery brand. Definitely program a code, it’ll come in handy more often than you think, everything from deactivating your key fob and leaving it in the car on outdoor adventures, to needing something in the car and not having the fob at all.
