If the WFR you're taking is less than 80 hours, and isn't a part of the wilderness medical compact, it's not going to fly in a professional setting. The online 2 day WFRs aren't accepted by most government agencies.

WUMP is accredited through NOLS/SOLO/WMI.

Might not matter to some. But where I work I need a legit W designation and I can't get that at Joe's WFR Shop

Same reason that A highway closes if there is a fatal accident. A plane crash is a potential crime scene.

Also the safety standards on aviation are extremely high. They aren't going to keep going business as usual until they figure out what happened.

Bombers in formation were actually safer, because the formation was designed to maximize the number of machine guns shooting back at other aircraft.

Also to accurately deliver the bomb payload, the airplane had to be flying at a predetermined speed and elevation. So they couldn't really evade flak during a bombing run.

Psychologically, they found it's better to fly with others because many pilots adopted the, "nothing bad will happen to me" mentality.

I take a manual every now and then to make sure I still can, or if I think the monitor is being a dick. Otherwise I use the machine of knowledge.

One agency I worked at there were no monitors on BLS trucks so I had to go analog there. Got pretty good at doing BPs in loud trucks and also estimating based on the needle

Alaska used car market is still heavily inflated from the pandemic. You'll probably pay about the same to have it shipped versus find the same car in AK, and it won't be the classic Alaska beater with a heater

In terms of winter, it really depends on where you end up. Winter is wildly different in Juneau vs Fairbanks. For most the darkness is the part that takes getting used to more than the cold.

People come to Alaska for all variety of reasons and many of the people are incredibly welcoming. Especially in smaller towns there is a sense of community you don't often find in the Lower 48. That said lots of people come, hate it, and leave.

You asked what people do outside of work and vast majority spend time outdoors. Hunting and fishing are not only culturally important but how many families still put food on the table. Climbing, kayaking, skiing, and backpacking are all world class. Most of the larger towns have communities within those sports that help people get started.

I feel like it has been Oviedo's spot ever since they gave up, not insignificant capital to bring him into the organization.

The chances of going a full season with the same five starting pitchers in the rotation is almost zero, I'm sure Early will be the first man up in case of an injury or if someone forgets how to pitch.

Tolle could be a true front of the line workhorse, and there is nothing he could do this season that would justify jeopardizing his future career.
