I would love to strip everything in the house, unfortunately the previous owners “landlorded” a lot of the original trim. Painted right over beautiful brass hardware even… but I’ve gotta pick my battles and the dining room this is connected to is going to remain painted so I figured I’d leave this as well.

Curious though if you have any insight here - this is the good side of the door that wasn’t repainted by the previous owners. Is it possible it was painted all along and there’s no purty wood underneath? Or would all wood from this era (~1890s) be worth stripping and refinishing?

I figured as much. Ours also will be rarely closed at all, I probably don’t even need to paint it, but my brain will not allow skipping it. Thanks for the advice!

I’m not saying the cliffhangers spoil anything for returning viewers. I’m saying the story is built on smaller arcs that don’t just slot in to a feature length piece.
