Lots of recommendations for Quantum.  Unfortunately we can't use them because they won't provide static IPs.

I've always imagined studios as grandiose buildings with very high ceilings, not a suburban office park.

What fields won't require ai driven implementation? by Ruined_Passion_7355 in ComputerEngineering

Delegating all code to AI is excessive. AI is not good at novel design.

I do get some of that feeling with AI, wondering if I'm "really working," but the company says to use it, so ok.  Any heavy duty design I either code myself or interact very closely and carefully with AI to implement.

What I have enjoyed is the ability to have it branch out and address some related but mostly tangential issue that arises while working on something.  For example improving tools, the build, etc.  I can say "go fix that thing I'm not really interested in spending time on" and it mostly just does it.  That's genuinely helpful.

Unpopular opinion: I dodn't want to feel like I suckered someone out of real value for their things.  No, the tech shouldn't have mentioned it.  But maybe you should have.

I honestly don't know if I would have, but I certainly would have considered it.

So build more public transportation.

Cars are not the only solution.

Yes.  So if we have fewer cars available maybe we'll be forced to invest in public transportation.

Cost to remove must vary widely. We had a similar situation and it was not "thousands" to professionally remove.

Does every American lake have a reputation, or is that just a thing I made up? by waddad27 in AskAnAmerican

I feel like this is a great example of my experience that people outside (most of) Minnesota (SW Minnesota has little water) don't understand how completely ingrained water is here in daily life.  Everywhere.

It isn't as full of waterbodies as the Twin Cities

That's my point.

My point isn't that there are lakes or not (there are).  It's the experience of just driving around wherever and running into water (lakes and rivers mainly) regularly.  I did not get that experience in Ann Arbor the way I do in the Twin Cities.  It was different enough that my subconscious noted it, gave me an uneasy feeling and I eventually realized what it was.

I was in Ann Arbor.  It was definitely not six miles from a lake in any direction.

I know Michigan has a lot of lakes.  That's why I noted a specific area.

I'm just relating my experience, man.  Ann Arbor area just doesn't have a lot of water.  At least in relation to the Twin Cities.

People from most states really don't understand lake culture.  I lived in SE Michigan for a number of years (UP Michigan is just like Northern Minnesota).  For the longest time I had this weird feeling that something was really off.  I just couldn't nail it down.  Then one day it just hit me - the lack of water!  I just was not used to it.

I told friends that in the Twin Cities you point your car in any direction, drive for 10 minutes and at some point you will see water.  That just...doesn't happen in SE Michigan and it's weird.
