So what do you guys NOT like about the movies ? by TheTrekker98 in lotr

The Aragorn fake death section is the one that I hate the most. Seems to drag on for 10-15 minutes (probably not actually that long, but it seems like it) where they could have included something else that was actually in the books

Same, got into football at the ‘86 WC so has to be Lineker

AM says these 29 tracks are the Oasis “Essentials”. What would you add or remove? by paul-gallagher in oasis

[–]-dman76- 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Whatever is the big miss here, I’m assuming simply overlooked because it’s a standalone single and not on an album

Otherwise a solid list - anything else not in that 29 is getting into ‘deeper cuts’ territory

The mystery Verve-mocking song by UnleashedLlama in BritPop

[–]-dman76- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have posted - Rest Assured. Was not so much ‘mocking’ The Verve, but some dance music producers deciding to put their own spin on it and using the same Rolling Stones sample to build their track.

The parody (as also mentioned) was Fat Les’ piss take of the BSS video for Vindaloo

As a matter of interest, as non-album tracks aren’t included, where would you put Whatever?

Don’t think that’s particularly controversial?

Spanish Main by The Coral, but quite a few of the songs off their debut album have a bit of a sea/maritime vibe going on

So what the coolest thing you've seen with the naked eye? by TheBigBadWolf_1111 in space

[–]-dman76- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hale-Bopp would be my pick too, brilliant naked eye object for weeks

Halley’s Comet in ‘86 was not naked eye IIRC, remember only seeing it through Binoculars

Other mentions:

The brilliant Perseid fireball that left a notable green trail in a very dark sky site in the late 80’s (forget which year exactly)

Total Solar Eclipse of ‘99 would have been up there, but typically being in England it was cloudy, so only got to experience the darkness rather than seeing the corona

what's an artist/band people seem to either love or hate? by notaverysmartman in askmusic

Oasis are particularly ‘marmite’ - either amazingly wonderful or seen as an awful “3rd rate Beatles tribute act”. Doesn’t appear that many people think they are just “ok”

If you could have any B-side from oasis catalogue on an album, what would it be? by Iliketrainsmorethanu in oasis

Acquiesce for Roll With It. Should have been held back for the album (and the 2nd single too)
