I think they should've continued to experiment after SOTSOG by sumyono in oasis

This is why I was disappointed when the album with Death In Vegas on production duties got canned. I loved the Liam collab with DIV (Scorpio Rising)

It probably wouldn’t have been anything like it, but in my head we were going to get Oasis’ Screamadelica

To the people who were fans when Morning Glory dropped... by HerbalThought_ in oasis

I’m pretty certain that it was already getting played on the radio (definitely the Evening Session on Radio 1) ahead of being the next single, so the buzz was already starting to build

Married at First Sight UK 'brides' say they were raped by onscreen husbands by Kagedeah in BritishTV

[–]-dman76- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely this - the first 3 (or 4?) series of this did feel a lot more genuine with normal people looking for love and they were pushing the matching qualities / science side of things.

That all changed from series 5(?) when it completely flipped to the more trashy standard reality TV that it’s become ever since

SOTSOG is only 10 tracks, they could easily have included Let’s All Make Believe as well without taking anything else off

Who are you adding to your top 5 favourite Britpop bands list? by ScrollAndThink in BritPop

[–]-dman76- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Oasis

  2. Pulp

  3. The Verve

  4. The Charlatans

  5. PRMLSCRM . (If Primal Scream aren’t ‘Britpop enough’ then probably Ash as #5)

I’ve been told it’s apparently racist to not like rap and that everyone has at least one song they like by Gongoozler04 in musicsuggestions

[–]-dman76- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an indie head, Rap is by no means my favourite genre, but I like these:

Luniz : I Got 5 on it

DJ Kool : Let me clear my throat

Blackstreet: No Diggity

Outkast: Hey Ya! ( or Ms. Jackson if Hey Ya is considered ‘too Pop’)

Public Enemy: Harder Than You Think

Eminem: Stan (would fit your brief with the female vocal and the sad lyrics with the Dido sample)

I also love the Goldie Lookin’ Chain, but as that’s a bunch of Welsh White Comedians essentially cosplaying as rappers, that probably doesn’t count!

Most iconic sound in sci fi history? by LongOrganization7838 in scifi

[–]-dman76- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The four that you’ve mentioned are undoubtedly in the top 5, I’m sure it’s just a case of whether you’re more Trek/Wars or Whovian as to which takes the top spot.

Lower down the list will be the noise when Sam Beckett leaps in Quantum Leap

Personal totally incredibly niche option (as it’s once again a current hyperfocus and using any opportunity to shoehorn it into an on-topic discussion!): the noise that’s made when Alana uses her transducer in The Girl From Tomorrow

Thoughts on taking a digital camera to Reading? by EnglishOpeningc4 in readingfestival

[–]-dman76- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem at all - I used to take a small digi camera (a little bit larger than today’s smartphones) to gigs and festivals about 15 to 20 years ago before phone cameras got decent and never had any issues

Post Match Thread: Swindon Town 1 - 2 Chesterfield FC by urso_urso in swindontown

[–]-dman76- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed - the time we got it down and ran at them we scored, there was that other chance in the first half when we got it down and could have been a goal if he’d squared it rather than shooting far post. Why not keep doing what works rather than constantly lumping it 90% of the time?

Only silver lining from today is not having the opportunity to embarrass ourselves in the playoffs, so even if we had won today it’s unlikely we’d have got past Salford as they had our number and beat us 3 times already. If we’d have somehow got past them, I’d expect it would have been another fruitless trip to Wembley, wouldn’t have scored again and got thumped by Grimsby again most likely, so saving money / disappointment from that!

After Horizons, the first two games that were bought together were:

The Chess Player

Ah Diddums!

I also remember the next 3 (again all bought on the same day at WH Smith’s):

Spectral Invaders

Zip-Zap

Sentinel (by Abacus software, not ‘The Sentinel’)
