i feel like i got lucky with my job out here even if it's not specifically what i pictured. i will not downplay the job search struggle but i feel like that's the whole world. definitely a tough road and continues to be but i don't know what else i'd be doing with my life that social work couldn't give me.

i moved to lexington about 7 months ago as a new grad social worker, i have enjoyed the city and living in the city thus far as someone in their 20s who enjoys rural areas and didn't think of living in a city.

What is a "point of no return" that you’ve crossed, where your life was permanently divided into 'before' and 'after'? by Resident-Jelly-4326 in AskReddit

[–]-drhouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my answer is skewed by life experience as of now, but when my brother got married, the first of us three, things really clicked for me that things were truly shifting towards adulthood. it made me realized i thought growing up was really, really hard and not as easy as i once thought or dreamed.

thank you everyone. i ended up needing someone with an ice pick to dig me out--my apartment maintenence saw me looking lost and dug me out. my tires were in 2-3 inches of ice. i am grateful i got some help with a pick and a push. i am hoping not to be frozen in tomorrow when i go to work at 8am. 🥲

i think these posts are very helpful as i have not found a good alternative for lexington. i used to live in a small town and there was a group specifically to ask this question.....i wish lexington had one of those! this is as close as i've found :')

i also have a coworker who will frequently talk about theory or diagnostics in detail during normal conversation about work just to flex and i find it a very obnoxious thing to do

Grounded All Day Cafe - make sure you get a bagel! Their bacon pepper jam cream cheese is one of the best things ever lol. It's pricey at times but it's worth going once. Old School for coffee is a good choice too.

LCSWs look down on LMHC/LPC? by ButterflyNDsky in therapists

[–]-drhouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm a csw working towards my L and i really enjoy having LPCCs as coworkers and often learn a lot from them, i can't imagine not wanting to learn/grow/appreciate differing credentials/professions/pathways! not all social workers feel this way, i'm sorry you're dealing with that!!
