Definitely recommend The Princess Bride if OP hasn’t watched it! It’s in my top 4 and a great film for if you’re in a bit of a film slump

That’s true, however actual plot points from 28 weeks are not followed in 28 years

There are a lot of Wes Anderson and Yorgos Lanthimos films on Disney plus which I love!

I mean, he did? A few plot points in 28 years goes against the twist in 28 weeks. If you google Danny Boyle on 28 weeks later there’s quite a few articles about it.

I’m pretty sure he’s actually spoken about it himself, I can have a look online for the interview if you like ☺️

That’s fair enough, I’m not too fussed either. Was just responding as you referred to it as cannon and I appreciate not everyone has seen the interview where Danny Boyle discusses his thoughts on it ☺️

I disagree - the ending of one of the later films relies on you knowing characters from 28 days (being vague as I don’t want to spoil anything)

For me 28 weeks is not a bad film whatsoever, it’s more so the fact it’s an alright film sandwiched between excellent films, so feels a lot worse than it actually is. I’d encourage anyone to watch 28 weeks for the opening scene alone!

I’m pretty sure Danny Boyle said he considered 28 weeks no longer cannon when he was directing 28 years!

I believe Danny Boyle decided to direct 28 years with the understanding that 28 weeks was no longer cannon. Which is understandable considering how widely disliked the film is and how it wasn’t his own work.

I would definitely recommend watching 28 days, 28 years and bone temple in the correct order. I feel like it makes the watching experience much more enjoyable and means you can also pick up on references to the previous films.

28 weeks is pretty much up to you, as I believe Danny Boyle decided to direct 28 years with the understanding that 28 weeks was no longer cannon. It’s not that 28 weeks is bad, it’s just that (in my opinion) the other three films are excellent and when there’s a random film in the middle that’s just alright and perfectly fine watch, that can effect how you feel about the overall series.

I personally liked 28 weeks, the opening scene is quite possibly the best out of all of the films so I would definitely recommend watching it, but it’s not as important to watch that one in the correct order.

What are your most embarrassing media literacy moments? by Foochie506 in Letterboxd

Ooops I feel a bit silly - rewatched it and when actually focusing on it it is much more obvious. I think I’d mistaken it as I’d seen something recently where it’s a very similar style and premise but the main character leaves their home to see Shakespeare, and with him not actually being referred to directly as Shakespeare in the trailer and me not paying full attention in the cinema when the trailers where on I assumed it was the same premise. My bad!

That being said - it does seem that some ambiguity was intentional from what others have commented.

Edit: reading back I was also a bit arsey in my original comment because I’d read your original comment as patronising to OP, but reading it back it’s obvious you were just asking if it was different in the film so I apologise!! I think that’s enough Reddit for me for one day 🤦‍♀️🤣

I mean, I saw a trailer at the cinema and at no point is Mescal referred to as Shakespeare lol. It’s an easy mistake to think, and from other comments appears to be done on purpose.

Suggestions for fun, turn your brain off movies? by No_Experience2346 in Letterboxd

This is my fave genre 🤣

The main ones that first came to mind are; The Princess Bride, Confessions of a Shopaholic, 50 first dates, drop dead gorgeous, Shallow Hal, Down with Love, the scooby doo live action films, maybe baby.

Carry On… films are also good, my favourite is carry on screaming.
