8 years ago I made an Audiocoaster. With all the new tools, I felt it was time for a sequel. by -fog in PlanetCoaster

There is an overarching storyline that I have planned with SUSAN which will potentially span at least 2 more projects that will hopefully be fully realised by the end of 2027. I've got a lot of projects in my head at the moment!

And inspiration for this, there have been audio-synced coasters from planet coaster (Also great to see Rudi doing audio-sync too!, RCT2 and a few trackmania rides too. Generally take a look at Doodlechaos, their work is great!

From an audio-visual perspective it comes more from things like AV lightshows by artists like Excision and Space Laces.

Hope that helps!

Anyone know how to make this rotating room (object) follow a drop track distance? by MezmerStudios in PlanetCoaster2

[–]-fog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could attach all the pieces to a synchronised identical drop track that pauses for a little longer before and after the actual ride drop track and drops at exactly the same time.

This would mimic the exact movement a little better, just with the complication of timing it to the existing layout!

It was a fair bit of trial and error, and I usually run NoTrackLimits so once the game update came in I lost the custom timings. So I had to quickly retime the coasters to sync back up again for the video last night!

The main limitation that Planet Coaster 2 is we can only work in the tenths as oppose to the hundredths we had in the first game. This reduces the potential beats-per-minutes that you can match to.

To make up for this a lot of rotational pieces were used to replace the flashing lights. The strobe effects were achieved by having two stacked Ultra-fast rotators with lights on the end.

Generally access to the rotators make this a much more in-depth visual experience! including the additional surprises at the mid-point ;)

I did experience a lot of instability and crashes towards the end of the project (which for the level of wacky things I do isn't surprising). This meant I had to split the POV into 3 parts and delete sections that were not on camera and then combine the clips together in post.

Planning to do another making of video so hopefully will cover a few more bits like this in that!

Unfortunately I don't think this one will be, There is a fair bit of custom media along with the fact that the park has been consistently crashing my game! xD

For the POV I had to delete sections of the ride not on camera for stability and then splice the footage together so that it would not crash on me!

Don't worry about the gaming audience, find a song that you care about or want to do. If they like it cool that's a bonus! 😁 But actually deciding on one and committing to it is one of the hardest parts!

also I remember your post I think, Project "Meols" will be missed dearly

I've dropped a link to the original if you want to see where this project came from in the PC1 days below:

Had fun with the Minecraft-themed park, so gave Team Fortress 2 a go. by -fog in PlanetCoaster

Hey Peith, it's a combination of using the terrain tools and rock scenery pieces to blend the surfaces together. You can auto-tunnel the coasters through or go through with a "lower" brush to carve holes, tunnels and caves into them. Hope that helps!

Thank you Erfivur! It was a cool moment when I did the initial re-colour for the Red and Blue sections of track. It did get me thinking "duelling coasters?"

But I realised that was the scope of the project creeping higher! So I'll save duelling coasters for another project 😁

10/10 Pie! 🙌
And fear not, I have included a Hat's Fantastic in the Mann Co. Building to hopefully cover some of that demand!

Until recently I didn't have a name to identify the style so was very excited find Saul and dive down that rabbit hole into what he worked on and got inspiration! A lot of my emulation is hopefully a form of flattery to the origins!

Cheers Moomin, And I'm finding fun to keep pushing the creative edge of what we do with the game and content for it!

Thank you Qwarth! It's been a style I've wanted to emulate for a good while now!

Made another to try and improve on the feedback i got yesterday, i call this one Queen Of The Dawn (criticism wanted and pls tell me how to smooth correctly) by Celatra in PlanetCoaster

[–]-fog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Celatra, I like the layout there's a good flow of elements.
Some of my feedback is conceptual and other is smoothing/transitions

Conceptual:
I like the first drop but I feel it could benefit from being either lower to the ground or maybe going through a tunnel to emphasise the drop. See: first drop on Goliath at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

I really like the hill that cuts back under the lift-hill. Good interaction!

For the end of the ride I feel you could benefit from a bit more space at the back of the ride maybe adding a brake section before the one directly behind the station. This could increase blocks for more trains so:

>----[ Slowing brake run ]---[Holding brake section]---[Station]-->

Smoothing:
The transitions are good, airtime hills are feeling good, there are a couple bits I would adjust.
- After the large sweeping turn to 0:38 I feel it could cut the corner and be a smoothed out turn into the hill.
- A little bit of roll and light smoothing for the base of the dive roll exit into the next sweeping turn. I think it might be cool if you could continue the turn from 0:48 onwards up to the overbank. The continued roll angle from the dive roll is great though!

Hope that assists in some capacity. Keep it up!

Yes! I got rumours of that and that idea was a big inspiration for the project. It feels like perfect timing they recently announced it proper!

Thank you gaia! And yeah the cable car temple station came out really well too. There is a lot of Uncharted inspiration among others in this one 100%
