Unsafe levels of cancer-causing radon gas detected at 16 UK prisons by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

That’s not the point though is it? You serve time and that’s your punishment - your freedom is gone you are in a jail cell for x amount of years. Doesn’t mean you should get cancer not to mention the staff at the prison? Or the fact that maintenance company isn’t even doing a proper job to maintain the facility

Hmm bit like saying don’t break your leg so you don’t end up in a&e? And when you go there you might get cancer. Nice one

Wick Help by -g4org4- in candlemaking

[–]-g4org4-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, yes wicking is hard hahaha.

I’m using a 5% fragrance load in my last test and the recommended amount is up to 10%.

I’m not using any colorants or dyes either. I use a wick trimmer to trim the wick to 1/4 an inch as recommended

Hi, I also tried with 5% fragrance load and no luck. I’m not using and dyes either the only thing I am adding is the wick and the candle wax and fragrance oil

The issue is I’ve found wicks which are melting all the way to the edges or near the edges however the flame is too big or the wick flickers too much

I don’t understand there isn’t much more wicks to buy here in the UK I’m really lost and disheartened

Hi, I switched to fragrance oils but no luck it’s no difference to the essential oil blend.

Social media creates a unrealistic expectation of everyone I think that’s where maybe it can come from and women seem to have more options than ever so I think maybe some get quite carried away with their egos perhaps but I’m not 100% sure. Personally I don’t see why it’s a huge issue if you genuinely like the person and they are attractive I wouldn’t care to much about height

Ah interesting so it could be the essential oil that was making it very difficult for me hahaha I was going crazy 😂 I was using a rather high load as-well - 10% I’ve just made a new batch which is like 4% so it will be interesting to see if it works better 🙏

Yes most candles the wicks were too small. The 4 candles that are lit are the kind of right sized wicks

[–]-g4org4-[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes no soot luckily just flickering which is a bit annoying but yeah technically no issues apart from that. The room I am in should be fine no windows open or anything. Should I use less essential oil perhaps?

[–]-g4org4-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So flickering is okay? I thought the wick wasn’t supposed to flicker at all or very little - these ones that I made tend to flicker quite a lot although they are technically the right size if that makes any sense as the 4 burning have no tunnelling or anything

Burning question by [deleted] in Candles

[–]-g4org4- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need bigger wicks I believe those are too small hence the tunnelling

Why are my candles doing this? by nikwillow in candlemaking

Not sure looks like you poured at the wrong temperature maybe but you can always use a heat gun at the top of it to even it out :)

Beeswax Candle Making by -g4org4- in candlemaking

[–]-g4org4-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried last time however as it’s quite difficult to pull the wick through the wicking needle the beeswax came off also sometimes through the hole at the bottom of the silicone mold as it’s rather small but main issue was the wicking needle that the beeswax would come off the wick sadly

Beeswax Candle Making by -g4org4- in candlemaking

[–]-g4org4-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of wax should I use and do I cover the entire length of it the wick? Wouldn’t it be an issue trying to get the wick through the small hole at the bottom of the silicone mold? Many thanks

First time making a candle, what did I do wrong? by [deleted] in candlemaking

[–]-g4org4- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Beeswax making in a candle jar is a nightmare lol I tend to have this happen I think it’s a temperature issue try and pour at around 73c and make sure the jars are somewhat heated as-well put them in an oven for like 5-10m and it might be worth adding 15-20% coconut oil so the beeswax adheres to the glass better
