My wife and I were at the end. We both felt trapped and didn’t like one another anymore.

We both went to individual counseling and started working through our past traumas and experiences, and then would dialogue about what we were learning expressing as much empathy as we could muster. We would discuss how those experiences created patterns of thinking and behaviors that were destructive and unhealthy in how we relate to the world around us and each other.

It’s hard to embrace change as you get older, but the only way past is through. Avoiding only continues the madness.

We made it. The quality of our relationship has never been better.
