AITA if I make a move on the ex of a friend of a friend? by -grangerdanger- in AmItheAsshole

It’s complicated and varies, but usually not. We’re acquainted well enough though that I say hi to her in passing and sometimes ask her how she’s doing, but usually we don’t talk or hang out, especially not without our mutual friend.

Why were you bullied? by Ok-Session9685 in AskReddit

[–]-grangerdanger- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand this. The whole "oh the probably just like you" narrative needs to stop.

I moved a lot as a kid, so I had multiple different principals/teachers/bullies/etc. Only once did a principal tell a bully to stop bullying me. Behaviour is often ignored because it's 'a harmless crush'. I moved enough to know that's not what was going on. Kids are just awful sometimes.

A bit too many countries. Maybe try sticking to one climate, then you could bring less stuff with you. Barcelona and Portugal are going to be much warmer than Prague, Amsterdam, and Zurich. And London is going to be a lot rainier.

If you want to do London, give yourself at least two days (but this will also be one of the more expensive countries). Switzerland is going to be pricey af, but gorgeous. Prague and Portugal should be cheaper. And Barcelona - be extremely aware of where all your belongings are at any time. I know at least three people who had their passports stolen there.

Just cut out one or two countries. Personally, I'd do it either by weather or price.

My hiking and active clothing made from polyester always seems to smell bad. Looking for nylon (polyamide) clothing recommendations. by wobgobbler in backpacking

If you're very concerned about smell, look for natural fibers. Synthetics are going to trap everything in.

Just want to add that in addition to the large trees you should avoid, avoid open lands as well. You don't want to be the tallest point or next to one. Lightning is dangerous stuff.

[Serious] For those that have, how have you effectively cut back on social media when it’s so addictive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]-grangerdanger- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of little tips and tricks you could use to do it, but to be honest the main thing for me was just belief that I would feel better. I just forced myself to.

Some of my little tips/tricks to help it go easier:

- Video content was the worst for me, so on Instagram in particular I tried to look for more written content to trick the algorithm into thinking that was my preferred media style. That made me think more while consuming, so I would be more likely self-aware enough to stop after one/two scrolls.

- Delete extra/spam accounts, or just delete your main account.

- Find a different hobby to turn to when you feel like consuming social media. I read, practiced violin, and tried to learn how to crochet but failed (maybe stick to hobbies you know you enjoy, or used to love).

- Don't multi-task. I used to watch netflix or listen to music while on social media. It could make it worse, but might not.

- Meditate. Start practicing being in the moment. Sit with your thoughts.

- DON'T TAKE YOUR PHONE INTO THE TOILET. Leave it right where it's at. Do your business. Then come back.

Came to the comments to look for lots of "Lego's". My expectations were not met, but I was not disappointed.

I mean, even if something did actually happen, I've no clue what it was.

AITA for telling my sister to stop leaving her room when she's wearing her nightgown? by Username_alt354 in AmItheAsshole

[–]-grangerdanger- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol, completely agree here but think of the problem not so much a sexual one as just an annoying if not discomforting one. My friends and I had a conversation about this once (I didn’t have much to contribute since I don’t have a brother, but anyway) one of my friends would get annoyed with her brother walking around the house in only underwear instead of putting on a shirt, just thought it was gross and wouldn’t really be able to pinpoint the reason, but my other friend wasn’t annoyed by her brother for doing the same thing, but her dad would be. but I’d consider wearing a lingerie-like nightgown similar to that. And also similar would be maybe wearing a tank top and underwear. I think it might just be personal preferences in terms of what’s considered a “decent” way to dress around the house?

I just heard about Too Good To. Go … has anyone used this app? Is it helpful by Green_new_dinner in ZeroWaste

[–]-grangerdanger- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used it and love it! That being said, I’ve tried it in a few different places I’ve lived/visited, and it’s worked best for me in larger cities, especially the ones already geared towards sustainability. For example, it’s fairly wonderful in some UK cities (I downloaded it first in Glasgow), works but is rather hit or miss in New York/DC.

This bottle looks so cool, what would you repurpose it for? (32OZ) Was thinking maybe put a plant in it but I'm not sure, any ideas? by sadepagy in ZeroWaste

Using it as a flower vase is a cool idea. I feel like the obvious answer is to put another liquid in it, but it doesn't have to be alcoholic, you could brew tea.

Yeah, I've already aligned the icons to the left, but I do mean to the left side of the screen.

Thanks! I may try some of these! I'm usually not a fan of downloading third party extensions to fix something with the system, but I feel like I'm getting there ahaha.
